Today, we had a person come into grab 50 of his widgets. Eventually we gave it to him because everything checked out. At the end, he asked if there was a public bathroom, and for us, the answer is no.
So Mr Man, took his son outside and took a good old leaking on the fence outside my office. He even looked back to see if we were watching. I love my job.
I had an early day from work today. Mostly because I am going to have to work Saturday and with our new system, we can no longer fiddle with the time sheets.
So, I took advantage of the day by going to the doctors, getting a prescription and then shuffling off to the closest supermarket, Acme. Big Mistake!
Things went well early on, until I got to the Deli section. It was a mob scene on a Thursday, which is not normal. So, I had a choice, grab some ham and cheese from the Oscar Mayer counter, or wait in line. I went with the Oscar Mayer, as opposed to losing 20 minutes of my life. Overpriced does not equal Xbox time.
Dammit Acme, you are already more expensive, please do not allow your staffing to become a Genaurdi's!

On the good news side, very little went wrong. All the offices had a contest to see how many widgets one could get for the day. The offices 10 minutes away from me on both sides had 2 and 3 widgets respectively. My office, ZIPPO!
Sparky was not a happy camper.
This was one of those orgasmic football weekends that only comes around a few times a year. Naturally, I watched almost all of it.
Arizona faced off with Atlanta in the early game and while most of the country probably did not care, I did because of my alegiance to the Cardinals. I thought in the beginning the Warner was looking old, but the Edge looked like the running back from Indianapolis and Rod Hood played like an Eagle, giving the Cardinals a hard fought win.
The best game of the weekend was the one that looked like the best on paper, with Indianapolis and San Diego facing off on Saturday night. I know I maybe one of the few people in the country that has ever heard of Darren Sproles, but he singlehandly sent Peyton Manning into golf season.
The worst worst game of the weekend was Miami hosting Baltimore. Once Ed Reed ran back that interception for a touchdown, you knew you could go and take a shower, which I did. In fact, this game is not even worth a picture.
Finally, it was time for the Eagles vs Minnesota. Deep in my brain, I knew the Eagles would win, just because they are the better team. However, I was not convinced of a win until Westbrook did what Westbrook does on a screen and sent the Eagles to a matchup with the hated Giants. There will be plenty of email smack talk this week for Sparky Duck.
Flickr is a great resource for pictures, especially stuff you can borrow for your own screensaver, not that a Duck has done that.
But I figure with the holidays, lets give some talent credit. With a week to go to Christmas, the Duck Family shares some flickr finds.
To start off, lets go Philly style when Mayor Street was wasting gobs of money.
The big parade is in the city today, to celebrate the Phillies World Series Championship! The parade is supposed to start at 12 and run from 20th and Market all the way down Broad Street. The city suggested taking Mass Transit, which is something Mrs Duck does everyday since she works in Center City.
Septa is now suggesting finding an alternative to the city, at 10:30 this morning, about 2 to 3 hours late for most people, including the wife who is now working from home and standing next to me as I type this. A bit of a botch for Septa on this one, since besides the parade, there are some people who actually had to get to work today and now can't. Will they cover the lost vacation days?

2.Bad News-My amatuer weather prediction says at least in NE Philadelphia, the weather is getting worse.
3.Good News-Grant Balfour is pitching and he talks to himself more than I do.
4.Bad News-The weather may cause a delay that could last for hours
5.Good News-The rain may chase away the idiots at Frankford and Cottman, who are a riot waiting to happen
Or sort of silent, because I bet there was a huge uproar when Chase Utley hit his home run. Trust me, as a sort of outside observer, Philadelphia is on pins and needles because deep down, they think we should win this series. But, its Philly, which means there is alot of pain to come.
I am a Phillies fan. They are the local team, which means they are the team I get all the local coverage of. Fox games, Phillies. UPN57 games, Phillies. the sport pages, philled with Phillies in the spring and summer, well at least until Eagles training camp starts. The beautiful Citizens Bank Park, home of the Phillies, and the place I have been to my last 4 baseball games at. So, being in Philadelphia, even as a late comer, I can not help but be excited for the Phillies trip to the World Series.
But, I am a dyed in the wool, Red Sox fan as well. In fact, I have been a Red Sox fan a heck of a lot longer then I have enjoyed watching the Phillies. One of those 4 baseball games I have seen over the last 2 years at Citizens? Phillies/Red Sox, where I was wearing my Red Sox hat and cheering for David Ortiz.
So, what to do, what to do. I think the Phils will have a much better chance against the Rays of Tampa then against Red Sox Nation. They can bring the first world championship to the city in over 25 years. But, its the Red Sox. The miracle comeback Red Sox. I can still remember almost every pitch of the comeback against the Yankees from 3 games down a few years back. And then there was this 2 nights ago.
What to do, oh what to do.
It should have been obvious early on that this fellow was a bit off kilter when he was driving the wrong way on Roosevelt Boulevard just outside Philadelphia proper. Plus, apparently he was prepared with a bullhorn, ski mask and a black sports coat with white crosses on the arms and back. This situation had suicide by cop written all over it. Good thing in the end is that it seems to have just been a bit of a rush hour mess as opposed to a serious threat. Plus, the suspect had a flair for the dramatic, waiting for just after 5 to surrender, making sure he gets himself on the early news, Live and in HD.
Though if you read the article, avoid the comments, they have somehow taken themselves into straying political and lunatic fringe like...
Let us make everyone aware. Philadelphia Flyer fans are blue collar. There team was once known as the Broad Street Bullies. And the New York Rangers are a northern/central New Jersey, Manhattan fan base. So, inviting Sarah Palin to drop the first puck in front of these crazy rowdies may have been the biggest dumbass move ever. Notice how loud the into music got and it still did not work.
I know, I know, where is the respect! And I know Sarge will be screaming tomorrow, but if the Governor of Alaska wants a warm reception, head to the Predators.
Ok, work has sucked, it has been things to do from the time I walk in, to the time I leave, even though I get paid, um, like a McDonalds worker.
However, I have 6 hours to go before a long birthday weekend, and my Saturday is already set. Bruce Springsteen in Center City and then the Ducks kicking the crap out of the Trojans on Saturday night. Plus, cooking and getting drunk!
Be fore warned, the Ducks always manage to lose on my Birthday weekend, so I maybe cranky.
I would say this weekend is one of those interesting weekends that you do not experience all the time. So of course, I have to share it with you all. (okay, all 3 of you)
After experiencing the debate Friday in a vodka induced haze, which Obama and McCain really tied in, which means the Senator of Illinois actually won, it was a wedding in Center City Philadelphia. During the week, I was dreading going, because it would cut into my leisure time during the weekend, and also, this was a wedding for Mrs Duck and her friends/co workers. Which means I would know only a few people. However, I should have noticed the first sign it would be a good weekend, when I was able to score a hotel room on Priceline for 75% off what it would usually be. Bargain shopper I am.
Into the city we go, to find that our hotel is inundated with NAMIC members. Not exactly an exciting bunch, but I would say they still have the cash, since Bruce Hornsby was playing there gala banquet finale. Or Mr Hornsby is suffering for cash.
The reception was excellent, classy and actually fun. I am not a fan of bands at weddings, but the group Touche, was quite good. A bit 70s sounding for the taste of Mr Duck, but the dance floor was jamming all night long. The food was quite good, the ambiance was classic and in actuality, this may have been one of the best weddings the Duck family has attended since we have been together.
Plus, one of the guests was actually a ex husband of a famous portly comedianne. That, if nothing else was an interesting gawking without gawking sight.
Yes, a actually terrific weekend, plus we were able to score some nice flowers! Though the Philadelphia Puerto Rican Day parade through a bit of a hitch in the commute home Sunday.

Yes, TS Hanna has rained down on the I-95 corridor today. And while we have only have a few hiccups power wise, it has still been a rainy yucky day. I said during the week that I was looking forward to a down day. At abou 3pm, I was cursing down days!
This also was not a day to bet with Sparky Duck. While I just missed hitting 2 exactas because I was cheap, almost every team I rooted for in College football managed to find a way to lose, the most appalling was Washington vs BYU, but I will kevetch about that at another time. In the end, it was not the day to bankroll Sparky.
I did love how MSG Plus said on there little scoreboard screen below the game, said that Texas Tech was losing to Nevada 42 to 17. Nevermind that is is 8:30 now and the game is just kicking off.
Though if you were paying attention, I sort of wandered in and out yesterday.
But, Mrs Duck and I are now back from a lovely time with friends at the Cape, and smartly, we took the rest of this week off. Going back to work midweek after a vacation is one of the stupidest ideas that I swear I will never ever do again. Of course, I have thoughts rattling around in my brain, so lets get em out.
1.I missed the best football game on the college football level because I could not find it. East Carolina blocking a punt and running it back for a touchdown to beat VaTech at its own game had to be exciting to see. For someone...
2.Joe Lieberman is not a Democrat, I wish he would just stop saying that he is. The party kicked his ass out in Connecticut, so stop misleading everyone already.
3.Sarah Palin made my balls shrink occasionally last night, almost as much as the Jersey Shore ocean water did the day before.
4.Hurricane Hanna is bearing down on the Southeast coast and is going to make a mess of a weekend for us folks along the I-95 corridor. For some reason, I do not really mind.

It was about 12:00 AM, when we watched the tape of the Action News, when they played a slight snippet of "The One" video. I was calm and cool, half in the bag actually. Mrs Duck went apoleptic in her disgust and anger towards it. In fact, Cardinals Rigali, McCarrick and Bevilacqua will be expecting emails from her just because she was so insulted. She was up until 2 am because she was pissed.
So that may explain my little fraud post from last night, but truly, if you watch this ad, how can you not think it maybe crossing the church/state political line.

If you are a slugger, like Ken Griffey Jr, who has not really tasted the playoffs since you were really a Junior in Seattle, you would think the Phillies would be high on your list of teams to get traded to. Nice small ballpark to hit in, and you have to be a better outfielder defensively, even gimpy, then Burrell or Dobbs.
Yet, you find yourself with the White Sox, for two players that are being traded for the 2nd time in 2 years and a boat load of cash. The WSox are clinging to a lead in a weak division and possibly 3rd or 4th in the Wild Card chase. Not exactly a lock for that ring is it?
Though here inlies the true problem, when it comes to money, the Phillies and the Eagles have the same mindset. Don't spend it.
