Septa is Great!
The big parade is in the city today, to celebrate the Phillies World Series Championship! The parade is supposed to start at 12 and run from 20th and Market all the way down Broad Street. The city suggested taking Mass Transit, which is something Mrs Duck does everyday since she works in Center City.
Septa is now suggesting finding an alternative to the city, at 10:30 this morning, about 2 to 3 hours late for most people, including the wife who is now working from home and standing next to me as I type this. A bit of a botch for Septa on this one, since besides the parade, there are some people who actually had to get to work today and now can't. Will they cover the lost vacation days?

Indirectly, I thought of Mrs. Duck when we were headed over to the ballpark today.
We left from the Lindenwold Hi-Speed line - which was PACKED by the time it got to Woodcrest. I thought, "What if somebody actually had to get to work today?" It wasn't happening.
While we were waiting for the Phils to show up at Citizens Bank on their "Ben Hur" trip through Philly, I heard someone say that SEPTA suspended service at 1pm. After they BEGGED us to use public transit.
We were smart enough to walk from Broad and Locust to the Ballpark. The Broad Street line must have been a Zoo.
After further review (a couple of newspaper stories) SEPTA had every train and bus running on Friday, so I don't think you can blame them, really.
What were they supposed to do? I don't think anyone anticipated the crush of people, but seeing as how it's been 25 years, maybe that was a clue?
The numbers from Friday are going to dwarf the last crush - Live Aid in 2005.
Better that mass transit was backed up then that many more cars on the roadways
