Off the Air

Ok faithful readers, its time to move, which means the PC is going to be broken down and boxed for a time. Please don't despair, I will return, no jumping off bridges. :+)

Lets give T.O. a break

Ok I can not believe I am standing up for this guy, but give me a break, what is the big deal about the spoof before Monday Night Football. And for pete's sake, how in the world is it Terrell Owens fault, he was just reading lines (badly by the way). I hope that some people are wrong in thinking the flack is about racism (white woman, black man) because I figure we live in an age that is a bit more intelligent then that.

My Eagles Rant

Ok it finally dawned on me why I really still dislike Philadelphia Eagles fans. They try to treat themselves as some small town bumpkins from Norman Oklahoma. On what 6 oclock news broadcast would we waste anytime on the fact that the Eagles are playing on Monday night against a hopeless Dallas Cowboys team? On another network no less? C'mon, you are the 5th or 6th largest city in the country, act like it. I can understand the playoffs, but I might have been able to throw a touchdown or 2 against that Cowboys secondary!

On a bright note, that one play that Donovan made in the 3rd Quarter was amazing, scrambling for his life and then finding the underused Freddie Mitchell? Now that was pretty cool.

Got the bedroom furniture today for the new place. I would post it here, but I can't find the blasted digital camera!

Got em!!

CNN.com - Jury finds Peterson guilty of killing wife, son - Nov 12, 2004 I have always deep down felt that this guy was guilty. He did too many things to cause suspicion to be thrown his way. And when the best thing your attorney can say he was a liar and a cheater but not a murderer, you are kind of screwed. Now what sentence do we think he will get?

Ohio Vote

Ok, I am nowhere near under the illusion that the Ohio vote will turn out to be anything else than a strange conspiracy theory. I just don't think that the R's stole the election this time. I would however like to see if the race in Ohio does get closer then first thought, just so Shrub can take that whole mandate thing and throw it out the window.

On a liter note, we get the keys to the new place today, hopefully they have cleaned up everything they were supposed to clean up and make pretty. The move is next week.

Doctor Visit

Ok, so it turns out I probably did have a sinus infection, though now it has slipped off into the galaxy, or wherever these infections go. Doctor did hook me up with enough allergy medicine to choke a small donkey, including for the 1st time Flonase. Now I have never used this stuff, but I feel 10 times better already.

AS i was there (195 pounds by the way yuck!) they took my bloodpressure, said it was 130-over 92, which means very little to me, but the nurse said 92 is a little high? I think it was just doctor office stress.

I call gf and tell her about everything, and she says, high blood pressure? what do you have to be stressed about. Well, shes doing all of this from work, had she tends to talk a bit loudly, which makes everyone in her office think shes yelling. This leads to fits of giggles from gf coworkers, "well maybe if you didnt yell at him so much he wouldnt be stressed" Now gf is the sweetest thing, she really never yells, but it was just one of those funny moments we come across in our daily lives...

Its like the Freaking Energizer Bunny

it Keeps going and going and going

Election speculation continues

Looks like even some of Sen. John Kerry’s (D-Mass.) top advisers are getting reeled in by the rampant speculation among Democratic activists on the Web who think that Republicans may have rigged the election.

Reporters have been besieged by e-mailed pleading from liberals and Democrats who want an investigation of electronic voting machines in Florida and Ohio, for which there is no auditable paper record of votes cast through them.

Speculation burned even hotter last week when The Associated Press reported that an electronic voting system error gave President Bush nearly 4,000 extra votes in suburban Columbus.

Bob Shrum, a senior adviser to the Kerry campaign, gave some credence to conspiracy theorizing.

“I think there are a lot of weird things going on,” Shrum told reporters Monday, echoing an assertion made by several Democratic cyberactivists. “Some weird things. Why are the exit polls more accurate in states with paper ballots than in states with [electronic] machines?”

Of course, Shrum may be quick to latch onto technological explanations for Kerry’s performance rather than alternative theories, namely that his campaign staff wasn’t up to snuff

I would be much happier if this stuff was coming from somebodt other than Shrum.

Roswell - TV Series

I dont know how I missed it the 1st time around but Roswell is a pretty decent show. I have been catching it on teh SCi_fi network. Yes its like Dawsons Creek with aliens, I mean even some of the characters fit the Molds of teh NC show, the pretty brunette mouse, the crazy blonde chick and the dopeyesque best friend. Still an enterntaining show.

Turkey Soda

Ok I love a good drumstick as much as the next guy, but this maybe pushing the envelope a bit far.The Jones Soda Co. Tara Reid Wardrobe Malfunction Continued

I realize I have recently gotten alot of hits, and now I realize why, the lovely Tara Reid. Search here ladies and gents:Technorati: Searching the World Live Web and you may find more of what your looking for.

Doom in Eagle Town

Now, you would never think that any team was going to win 16 in a row in one year (though some Eagles fan actually thought it might happen), so it should not be surprising when a team finally loses one game. But I know how Philadelphia fans always seem to be. They are probably already plotting doom and gloom scenarios, even though there team is still the best team in the NFC. It maybe just a curse of getting let down so much in this town, but I can just hear WIP already.

Now I was already to pile one myself, but then my team, the Giants, went out and lost ugly to the Bears. The Bears??? They are pretty terrible, but I guess a blind squirrel can find a nut sometimes. Though if you look at it, the Bears have Craig Krenzel at QB, and all he ever does is win football games, as all of my Buckeye fans out there would know. There is something good to be said about managing a game

Oops Tara Reid

What is not unbelievable about Tara Reid's so called wardrobe malfunction is that it happened in the 1st place. She is not one of those actresses that has shyed away from nudity so far. What may have been amazing was, she appeared sober.

New George O'Leary?

ok I would say this is not the way a new owner wants to start out his regime but, Wally Backman is out already I don't even think he lasted as long as O'Leary did at Notre Dame.

Another day

Well, I have plenty to do today, and its laready 1 pm and I am finally thinking about it. Not exactly quick on the draw am I? But how long can it really take to put some boxes together. Yes folks, Sparky is moving again, though I do not think that Feasterville Transplant rolls off the tongue as well, so I think we will just stick with the status quo.

Oh in a anniversary wrapup, I sent her flowers to work, took Margo's suggestions and we also went out to dinner at the site of our 1st date, Carrabba's Italian Grill on Sunday. So it was a nice weekend overall, though we sure did eat too much Sunday night.

Anybody have an opinion on DirecTV?

Ron White

I know some veryt important people in the Delaware Valley who are probably kind of glad that this happenedPhiladelphia Inquirer | 11/04/2004 | Ron White dead at 55 Now the question is will anyone else flip now. Good ole Philly politics

Smacks head

Ok folks this does not really help. Especially the way the media originally told it, painting this protest as an antiwar/antielection protest.NBC10.com - News - Antiwar Protesters Gather In Philly Then you saw the view from the helicopters, and it looked like 50 freaking people.

Looking forward again

Ok I am basing this post on a coment I made at Everyday Margo. I do think I have gone thru the many stages of mourning, froms shock, to despair, to anger, and now to resolve.

So what does this all mean, besides chuckling at posts in Wonkette? WEll for me a few things going forward. Making sure Fast Eddie stays governor, unless he has some higher aspirations. Finding a awy to get that televanhelist disguised as a Senator, Rick Santorum out of office. And maybe finding someone who is not totally corrupt to be the mayor of the fine city of Philadelphia. Oh and cooking a huge Christmas dinner, moving and finding you know a job before the BOA gods income stream runs out.

Pretty full plate if you asked me, hmm though we may need some organization

ASHINGTON

With the Democratic Party splattered at his feet in little blue puddles, John Kerry told the crushed crowd at Faneuil Hall in Boston about his concession call to President Bush.

"We had a good conversation," the senator said. "And we talked about the danger of division in our country and the need, the desperate need, for unity, for finding the common ground, coming together. Today I hope that we can begin the healing."

Democrat: Heal thyself.

W. doesn't see division as a danger. He sees it as a wingman.

The president got re-elected by dividing the country along fault lines of fear, intolerance, ignorance and religious rule. He doesn't want to heal rifts; he wants to bring any riffraff who disagree to heel.

W. ran a jihad in America so he can fight one in Iraq - drawing a devoted flock of evangelicals, or "values voters," as they call themselves, to the polls by opposing abortion, suffocating stem cell research and supporting a constitutional amendment against gay marriage.

Mr. Bush, whose administration drummed up fake evidence to trick us into war with Iraq, sticking our troops in an immoral position with no exit strategy, won on "moral issues."

The president says he's "humbled" and wants to reach out to the whole country. What humbug. The Bushes are always gracious until they don't get their way. If W. didn't reach out after the last election, which he barely grabbed, why would he reach out now that he has what Dick Cheney calls a "broad, nationwide victory"?

While Mr. Bush was making his little speech about reaching out, Republicans said they had "the green light" to pursue their conservative agenda, like drilling in Alaska's wilderness and rewriting the tax code.

"He'll be a lot more aggressive in Iraq now," one Bush insider predicts. "He'll raze Falluja if he has to. He feels that the election results endorsed his version of the war." Never mind that the more insurgents American troops kill, the more they create.

Just listen to Dick (Oh, lordy, is this cuckoo clock still vice president?) Cheney, introducing the Man for his victory speech: "This has been a consequential presidency which has revitalized our economy and reasserted a confident American role in the world." Well, it has revitalized the Halliburton segment of the economy, anyhow. And "confident" is not the first word that comes to mind for the foreign policy of a country that has alienated everyone except Fiji.

Vice continued, "Now we move forward to serve and to guard the country we love." Only Dick Cheney can make "to serve and to guard" sound like "to rape and to pillage."

He's creating the sort of "democracy" he likes. One party controls all power in the country. One network serves as state TV. One nation dominates the world as a hyperpower. One firm controls contracts in Iraq.

Just as Zell Miller was so over the top at the G.O.P. convention that he made Mr. Cheney seem reasonable, so several new members of Congress will make W. seem moderate.

Tom Coburn, the new senator from Oklahoma, has advocated the death penalty for doctors who perform abortions and warned that "the gay agenda" would undermine the country. He also characterized his race as a choice between "good and evil" and said he had heard there was "rampant lesbianism" in Oklahoma schools.

Jim DeMint, the new senator from South Carolina, said during his campaign that he supported a state G.O.P. platform plank banning gays from teaching in public schools. He explained, "I would have given the same answer when asked if a single woman who was pregnant and living with her boyfriend should be hired to teach my third-grade children."

John Thune, who toppled Tom Daschle, is an anti-abortion Christian conservative - or "servant leader," as he was hailed in a campaign ad - who supports constitutional amendments banning flag burning and gay marriage.

Seeing the exit polls, the Democrats immediately started talking about values and religion. Their sudden passion for wooing Southern white Christian soldiers may put a crimp in Hillary's 2008 campaign (nothing but a wooden stake would stop it). Meanwhile, the blue puddle is comforting itself with the expectation that this loony bunch will fatally overreach, just as Newt Gingrich did in the 90's.

But with this crowd, it's hard to imagine what would constitute overreaching.

Invading France?

One last thought here from me, I heard it on the Daily Show yesterday (the onlyt source for your fake news) but the President saw his loss in the popular vote 4 years ago as a mandate, he will see 51-48 as a shutout

If it was the old days it would be Manna to the soul

Watching the West Wing, though this morning I swore I was going to take a political break. But I guess I can't turn away from it, even if it is a fictional TV show about a fictional president, that has not even been that good for 2 years. I guess deep down theres still hope.

So tell me, what can or will we do next?

One true thing

I also know what this takes away from me. I love politics, adore the debate, the feeling that someone out there is going to make a difference. Politics always gives me fear and hope at the same time. But how long can you scream at a wall and not have anyone listen!!

Sigh

So thats is that. I mean I had no real hope, only that shred of glimmer that something astronomical may happen in Ohio2nd term for Shrub But now its over, and folks hope you know all our goose's are cooked, Fools!!!

Long Nite and the aftermath of Martini's

If you looked at my blog as the night wore on, you could see how things were just not beginning to swing a progressive way. And yes, some of the posts at the end made absolutely no sense what so ever. I am not going to edit them though, possible because it was an artifact of my mood, something to remember. It hurts still this morning, I do not know where that hope went.

I never anticipated all of those Marriage amendments, and those really got out the conservative vote, which then caused a surge in Monkey's support as well.

I am not moving, but damn, just the thought of Vancouver Canada sounds nice every once in a while.

Cute

I think its cute and annoying that NBC has not declared any states after Ohio. I mean, I may think they don't want it to seem like it is even closer then it maybe. Turn on ABC or CNN and its a 7 point difference. INTERESTING

From Kos

Whatever thing I can hold on too!!!

Update: The margin in Ohio is now under 100,000 votes. This one is not over. Kerry campaign statement:

“The vote count in Ohio has not been completed. There are more than 250,000 remaining votes to be counted. We believe when they are, John Kerry will win Ohio.”

Im not quitin

I refuse to give up Ohio when only NBC and Fox (which is in Shrubs pocket) give up the state. I had my sob, but dammit, I AM BACK

OH F#@K I am so effing depressed right now

Hot Damn PA

I did my job I DID MY JOB!! Way to go PA, even if Kerry loses I truly truly love you and I know you are the bastion of Democratic values, lawsuits or no. Now c'mon Minnesota, the home of Al Franken for gods sake

The Kids

It doesn't seem like they showed up, and we needed them too

By the way- Voting machines sabotaged

The Republicans will do anything anywhere to win

as an example

A unknown woman snuck behind a voting machine and pulled the tag and pressed the button to close the machine. Closing the machine caused it to be out of service, giving this polling place only 2 machines. The polling place was in West Philadelphia, a heavily afro-american, democratic area. Hmmmmm

Also, the lawsuit in Philly to force a hold on the absentee ballots is very hinky, because it happens to fall in Philadelphia, a bastion of Kerry's support.

Hoeffel is winning, though it scares me because its shrinking.

PA

I am very worried about PA. Hoeffel is winning by too much so far, and that may mean that they are releasing early polls in the Democratic area, and Kerry is still not winning there.

OK, have I mentioned that Bush seems awfully confident, Anne Coulter is an ass, and I am dying inside.

Nice Job NJ

I always knew that your democratic roots would come thru. I had to abandon you so we could try and win in PA (ok and the GF live there and rent is cheaper) but deep in my heart of hearts I knew the close polls were wrong. Can anyone else belive that VA is still not called for Shrub?

Toll

Ok, the wait is starting to take its toll. I am beginning to get that anxious feeling I had this night 4 years ago. I hate being so invested, because I really shouldn't be

10 things to pass the time

I ripped this off from Dizzy Girl who got it from the Savannah Now news website, but I am too lazy to do all that registering and stuff to get the article, so the joy of cut and paste, though this list does have a Lettermanesque tone to it.

10. Turn to the crossword page in the newspaper. Ask in your loudest, outdoor voice: "What's a four-letter word for loser? Starts with B?'' If you're Republican, just insert the word "five'' for ''four,'' and the letter 'K' for 'B.'
9. Suggest passing time by having an impromptu Ashlee Simpson impression contest. The best lip-syncher gets to vote twice.

8. Continuously ask people in front of you: "This is the line for flu shots, right?'' When that gets old (and it will, quickly), inquire: "Is this the place to register for the re-vote?''

7. Start a special election day round of "99 bottles of cheap Canadian pharmaceuticals on the wall, 99 bottles of cheap Canadian pharmaceuticals ..."

6. Play "Name Your Favorite Mudslinging Campaign Ad.''

5. For Democrats, program your wireless phone to play Bruce Springsteen's "No Surrender'' or Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down.''

For Republicans, program yours with that old stand-by "Hail to the Chief" or, if you're feeling adventurous, Credence Clearwater Revival's "Fortunate Son.''

4. In the spirit of every sports fan's favorite cheer - "Taste Great! Less Filling!'' - start a chant between the waiting Democrats and Republicans: "Jon Stewart! Tucker Carlson!''

3. Pass around a flask. Make up a drinking game. Voters take a slug each time someone says the words "electoral college'' and ''obsolete'' in the same sentence.

2. Three words: Ketchup Eating Contest.

1. Exchange e-mail addresses with fellow voters so you can arrange a post-election, watch-the-Supreme Court-appoint-the-president party. Leave the polls saying "See you at the recount

Joy of NE Philadelphia

There was all this clamor about lines and watchers and everything last night, so I got up with GF at 7:00 this morning to cast my ballot. I expected a long line, and in the end, I was the one causing the line, since I was on a seperate list for voter registration. So the large line in Somerton at least was 3, and it was my fault. You all know who I voted for, so no need to share, buts stunningly I decided not to give Mayro Street anymore money. I am a dem, but that guy is useless.

Too Cute

So I got a picture of my too best girls sleeping on the bed tonight. Now before you go and think I am some Hugh Hefner, it was GF and my beloved cat Kittie (yes Kittie). They were sleeping across the bed, head to foot, while i watched the continued blathering on MSNBC. It was just one of those moments you needed to capture on film (or memory card in this case) If your curious, send me a comment or email and I will send the pic. GF would probably not be thrilled with the idea of herself in sleep clothes for public consumption, though I am a fan.

Psst-Coulter

A comment on Anne Coulter from Richard Belzer

"She's a Fascist Party doll"

Have I mentioned

Anne Coulter is a moron

Please PA

Please, dont be the state of Rick Santorum, please don't be the state of Ashcroft, please come thru. Please the young voters of Philly, Pittsburgh, the Lehigh Valley, and State College, please go out and vote. Don't let yourselves be intimidated, don't let yourself be turned away.
