Starrlight Inspired

Today was World Aids day, or World Aids Awareness Day, depending on whether you were in a Blue State or a Red State or a still affected country. Starr put up a post that I would love to steal, but won't.

Anyway, we in this country still forget that Aids affects people around the world, not just us little folks in Oklahoma. So a couple of videos showing the still heinous way this disease exists.

This one still has the impact that it makes me cry

Yes, Aids is a major killer. But what isn't talked about and should be said everytime that disease is mentioned is the fact that it is completely and totally preventable! I think we should spend more time talking about how to prevent becoming infected, that way we give the people the power to control their own destinies.

Yeah. I think people have "forgotten" about AIDS.

It's still a terminal disease. It's still horrofic, and yet we've forgotten.

It's harder to forget once you've watched someone die from the devastation wreacked on them by a virus. It ain't no way to go, that much is for sure.

Sad isn't it! People just don't realize how serious this is. Thanks.

Gotta chime in with Frigga on this one. I have compassion for anyone who is sick and dying, but the attention that AIDS has received in the past and continues to receive (such as a "World AIDS Day") is entirely politically motivated because AIDS was rampant in the gay community when it first broke out in the 80's.

Liberals love a cause, especially when the concern threatens their livlihood and the cause can bring them money over other causes.

More people suffer the effects of diabetes and die from its complications. It is a disease with distinct hereditary markers, and is due to a chemical imbalance centered in the pancreas. You can NOT transmit this disease by sticking your penis in another man's mouth or anus. Yet AIDS gets an official "World Day" and protests over funding and celebrity benefits.

You know what Michael, back in the late 80's early 90's I worked in a hospital with AIDS patients. And guess what they were not all gay. I could say more but homophobic asshat bigots are not worth the breath.

Nope, sorry, my argument is against the liberals who promote gay, human causes above general human causes.

Though I still have to wonder, since it's been so long since the Summer of Bush-bashing, what exactly is an asshat? I wear pants over my ass, but I gues sit could be a gay thing I don't want to know about.
