Thursday Thirteen #50-The P!nk One

Thirteen Questions From P!nk

See, I am even being technically correct, since that is the way the singer, Pink, spells her name on her Albums? CD's? Downloads? Eh, no matter. I have enjoyed a few songs by her immensely, though as time goes on, two seem to stick with me, Who Knew and this one I am sharing now. So, here are 13 Questions from Dear Mr President.

Dear Mr. President,
Come take a walk with me.
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me.
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly.

1.What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street?
2.Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep?
3.What do you feel when you look in the mirror?
4.Are you proud?

5.How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
6.How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
7.How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why?

Dear Mr. President,
8.Were you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?

9.How can you say
No child is left behind?

We're not dumb and we're not blind.
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell.

10.What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away?

11.And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine.

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
12.Can you even look me in the eye?

Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work

How do you sleep at night?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Dear Mr. President,
13.You'd never take a walk with me.
Would you?

I probably should have mentioned that when I get stressed, I get cranky. And when I get cranky, I hate smugness and arrogance. But, even if you don't agree, I would still love to hear what you have to say. Its all about discussion.

Ill try to visit when I can peoples ;p

Sparky, this is a BRILLIANT TT (and for a great song, nonetheless)!!!

I'm working on exposing #1 to the brilliance that is Pink. We heard Who Knew on the radio the other night; he liked it.

Have a great TT. :)

I like Pink and they way she is provacative, thought provoking and slightly confrontational - you know, pushing people to think about what she's saying or be shamed for thinking it fluff.

As for the questions she asked - yup, those are a few I'd love to ask as well.

By the way, you do cranky well Sparky...thinking of you and Mrs Duck today [positive vibes and hugs to you both].

Atta girl, Pink! Atta Duck, Sparky! The President who says Christ "changed his soul" and his Stepford Wife were back in New Orleans today for a charming photo op. The whole thing gives me the shivers. I'd love nothing more than for him to prove me wrong, to be a better man than I believe him to be, to set the country back on track. But George W. Bush never seems to tire of disappointing me and living down to my expectations. Damn.

great questions...very poignant.

You know where I stand Sparky, right by your side on this. Susan's right, it's brilliant the way you worked the TT.

Thoughts and prayers are with you and the Mrs. today. {{{HUGS}}}

Great list.

Mine's up.

Excellent list. I've never heard of this woman before but that is a very thought provoking set of questions to the man who, 2 years ago, was mugging for the cameras and playing the guitar while poor people (i.e. irrelevant people) were drowning by the hunbdreds in New Orleans.

this is the most brilliant post and my favorite current song. P!nk is amazing and Dear Mr President is brilliant and timely. It's great the way you tied it in with TT!!! I came to visit you because my TT was inspired by a post you made 2 weeks ago.
cheers :) and thanks for the inspiration. 2x I'll be stopping by more often.

Thanks for the great post. I love the song and am still wondering if we will get any answers.

I came for the pinkalicious and was wondering where the pink part would come in. Code Pink? But then at the end I realized, cause you helped me, that it was Pink's song.

I heard that Bush used to pull the legs off frogs when he was a boy. Some think he is a "dry drunk." I hope history will tell the truth and not give a gloss over on his presidency.

Mine are not pink but John Lennon is wearing Elvis's pink jumpsuit.

You know where I stand, my friend.

Awesome idea for a 13.

You and Mrs. Duck are in my thoughts today. GOOD LUCK!

Oh I just love this song! I'll be singing it all day now! I'd love to hear what dubya would answer, make some great fodder for jon stewart, eh?

Dragon said...

Love that song! Hope everything goes well for you today.

Starrlight said...

If this is Bush caring more for me than Clinton did, I'd hate to see what his NOT CARING would look like.

Excellent TT Sparky.

Excellent post Sparky my man... have a feeling you might have a comment or two on The Couch for Thursday-Friday

Denise Patrick said...

Good! Good! Great song and great questions, but of course, we know the answer to the last one.

Happy TT!

heyya Sparkle - i like Pink too but she always kinda freaks me out because she LOOKS like a clone of my college roommate AND sounds like her vocally as well. One of Rem's nicknames in college was Pinky. So you can see how i would find it all very weee-oooohhhhh. Rem still looks freaking 25 which is so unfair. At least she doesn't have the pink mohawk anymore.

Starrlight said...

Hey Spark, check out these shirts. I gotta get one :P

Jenny McB said...

You know what really scares me??? Is that people have fallen for his sincerity, anyone can be saved, over and over again. This guy just doesn't get it.
Now I have to go listen to the song.

Sparky - what a great idea for a TT. I don't really know Pink's work, but enjoyed the song and would like to ask the same questions.
