GrammyTastic

I am a sucker for most of the award shows out there. Heck, I dont think I am too old to be watching the VMA's on MTV, though sometimes during the show, I actually do think I might be old. But, no matter.

Tonight is my favorite award show, the Grammys. I am a musicphobe (is that a word?), well, if its not, I am a music lover to the point of being a music stalker. So, this is a fun night for me. The Oscars can get over my head sometimes. There are alot of movies that I havent seen or heard of. But when it comes to music, even by accident, I have heard a good majority of the songs.

Now, the Grammy's are not exactly cutting edge. Jethro Tull as best Heavy Metal over Metallica?? Steely Dan winning an award in the new millenium? Fresh Prince best rap group? all kind of scary awards. Though they have improved over time, sometimes you still get those old bittys who probably voted for Buchanan in Florida.

But, get there early tonight, the first hour will have Justin Timberlake, The Dixie Chicks and a Police reunion!! Now, I know that you are all sooo darn curious on my picks, so you may still have time to call your bookies.

Record of the Year: (this is based on song and performance all together)-Crazy by Gnarls Barkley

Album of the Year-(best group of songs)-FutureSex/Love Sounds by Justin Timberlake

Song of the Year-(best written song)-Not Ready to Make Nice by the Dixie Chicks

Best New Artist-James Blunt

Pop Album
-FutureSex/Love Sounds, Justin Timberlake

Rock Album-Try by the John Mayer Trio

R & B Album
-The Breakthrough by Mary J Blige

Best Hard Rock Performance-Woman by Wolfmother

Best Alternative Album-St Elsewhere by Gnarls Barkley

Best Rock Song-Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol

Best Rap Song-Moneymaker by Ludacris featuring Pharrell

Producer of the Year-Will i am

Im also pulling for Sarah McLachlan, whose Christmas album is nominated, and also for any chance to see the ultra hot Christina Aguilera.

Now, go, go enjoy the show.

I'm not sure if I'll be watching this show after the VERY disappointing AMA's, but you never know. I'll probably cave and watch the whole thing...but the ones who I want to win, never do. Most of my favourite musicians are never nominated. Boo.

Sorry to say, I gave up on the Grammy's a long time ago.
I came of age in the era of "progressive rock", and not only were they never nominated, they were ridiculed by the "popular" musicians, who I always believed were sell-outs to commercialism. Sort of like the way society works, only musically.

How could I take a program seriously who would give a Song of the Year grammy to "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", over "American Pie"? It was ridiculous.

Call me a music snob (I'll proudly accept the title), but I know there is better music than what is being nominated and will win tonight.

It's a lot like the Super Bowl. More of a TV show than anything else.
Sorry, but I get on a bit of a soap box when it comes to Grammy's time.

What, not a country fan? (Dixie Chicks do NOT count - blech). I'll check the headlines tomorrow...tonight is Extreme Makeover & Desparate Housewives...LOL.

Ok, I'm watching it right now. All I have to say is......

WTF?

Tug-I take my country piece by piece. I like Carrie Underwood, cant take Reba or Trisha Yearwood. Like The Wreckers, wish that Brooks and Dunne would go away. Clint Black is a favorite, I wish someone would take Toby Keith and hide him away.

Twyla-Its been worse, trust me. Gnarls Barkley was good!

Anthony-I watch the Grammys as a chance to see some performances that I usually wouldnt get to see since Mary J Blige is not showing up on Letterman or Conan too often.

My WTF moment was Shakira. Enough said.

Hi there! Thanks for popping in on my blog...regarding the 3rd column, I used the following references to tweak my blogger template:

Beautiful Beta and
CSS Examples

as far as the background goes, it's easy to point to a different graphic, just change the http address in the header. I have my own website, which is where I store my graphics that I have used on the new template. If you don't already have one, it's easy to get one for pretty short money ($2-$4 a month).

Hope that helps--I'm just learning the css stuff myself, and don't know as I'd be too good at teaching someone else ;-)
