Poetry Elllllvis Train

Sometimes I try and delve really deep into the meanings of songs I post for the Poetry Train. There are almost always different interpretations to many of the songs you hear now adays. But, sometimes, there are just songs that are simple, elegant and still great. This maybe the best Elvis song ever. Straight forward, yet beautiful.

I Cant Help Falling in Love

Wise men say only fools rush in

but I can't help falling in love with you

Shall I stay

would it be a sin

If I can't help falling in love with you

Like a river flows surely to the sea

Darling so it goes

some things are meant to be

take my hand, take my whole life too

for I can't help falling in love with you

Like a river flows surely to the sea

Darling so it goes

some things are meant to be

take my hand, take my whole life too

for I can't help falling in love with you

for I can't help falling in love with you

You know, other than Suspicous Minds, this is my favourite Elvis song. There's just something about the way he sings it that I love. Great choice!

I got my first kiss from a boy while that song was playing. No way I couldn't love hearing it again. :)

Eeeeeeeeeek! Elvis!!! Ducking and covering my head! Peeking up at Sparky - my sister would love your Monday Train post since she is a total Elvis freak.

Remember a year or two ago on American Idol when McPhee insisted on screeching this, a la Mariah Carey? When it came to his music, The King knew what he was doing. This is the way it should always be done -- not as leather-lunged belt-it-out tune. I've been known to make fun of Elvis for his movies, and his jumpsuits, and his sweaty scarves, and his chicken-friend lifestyle. But not the music.

Yea, too bad the hunk turned to chunk.

Love the song though and wish I had remembered it for the dvd that I made for my parents' 50th.

I'm not that much of a fan of Elvis slower songs...

I seem to recal a reggae version of this song that was quite good too.

Christina-Suspicious Minds works too

Matt Man-Your reasoning is my reasoning for having Jersey Girl by Bruce being banned in this house.

Lisa-I am sure its the sweaty Elvis look right?

Gauntami-Thanks for stopping by as always on Mondays.

PoP-Now thats a good memory

Rhian-I am not an elvis freak, I like this one, suspicious minds, a little less conversation and can handle Blue Christmas occasionally.

Gal-Im with you, the movies are only for laughing at.

Jenny-make a sequel!

jill-yes but Its got to be better on your ears then 50 Cent

Ann-Yes, UB40!!

Whenever I got drunk in college (yeah - that was a lot) I used to sing this song at the top of my lungs. And DAMN I sounded good!
The neighbours cats must have thought so too - cause they sang along with me :)
