That would have been painful to watch

Unfortunately, technology screwed me today, since my phone beeped to let me know that Tiger Woods had defeated Rocco Mediate in a 19 hole playoff today. I did my best to stay away from any news, keeping the radio off and not skipping off to the Action News website to make sure Philadelphia had not imploded today, and yet, I could not avoid it.

So while Mrs Duck and I half watch our TiVo, there is a part of me that is glad to know. Because, the Duck Family was pulling for Mediate, not only because he was born in Pennsylvania, but because he was a normal guy.

Subway told us a story while we were at the Heritage. He was outside his shop, setting up for the morning, when he saw Rocco Mediate having a conversation about what wine to buy across the parking lot in Hilton Head. I've done that, you've done that, we have all done that, which is why Rocco was just a regular guy.

So to see him lose in Sudden Death, without knowing it ahead of time might have ruined my night.

Im Like Mickelson

Ok, maybe I am not like Mickelson, since he went to college on a golf scholarship in Arizona and has won millions upon millions of dollars. Sparky on the other hand had to pay to go Delaware and is still buying powerball tickets. Yes, the title is an overstatement.

Yet for one brief moment, Phil and I were alike. Mickelson hit a 9 on a hole on the back nine, which was a quadruple bogey I think. I hit 9's all the time!! Phil and I are simpatico. Just remind me not to compare bank books.

As of 7:30, it was still Rocco Mediate, though Tiger and Davis Love III were in the US Open hunt.

A Duck needs a Hand

Or maybe its a wing. But, no matter. Here is the story.

Our Anniversary is coming up, only 10 days away or so. And while, there is not much of a plan, I still needs some ideas. So of course, I look to my blogger friends for advice. I have a grand plan, I need the details.

Ya see, my plan is to get one thing from each place that we visited on our Honeymoon. So, thats one thing from San Diego, one or two things from Hawaii and one thing from Seattle. Now, I have an idea in mind for Seattle, but now I have a problem with the rest of them. Coconuts and smoked salmon are not going to cut it.

So, all my blogger friends, how could you help. And please, lets remember that I am on a semi limited budget and cutting it close for shipping.

And now, to get noticed, I will link a few folks because I figure they would just notice a link.

March Madness Day 5-What we have learned

This has been a good, not great tournament, which makes perfect sense, since this has been a good, not great college basketball season. But, since it is college, it still teaches us things.

1.Don't Mess with Motas or Mrs Duck. My Oregon relative and my lovely wife, while still trailing in San Hiltadelphia, have the best chances to win our little blogging pool competition. Currently, Motas is in 4th place and Mrs Duck is holding down 8th, trailing Songbird, Lady Jane and Anthony. But, they have the most possible points available. Its gonna be a close one.

2.Whoever is doing the seeds was a bit of an idiot. There is no way Butler was a #7 seed. There is absolutely no way Duke was a #2 seed (and yes I am a Dukie and can still say that). If you think Davidson was only worthy of a #10 seed, you need to be committed. Someone needs to tell these conference commissioners there is more to basketball then the BCS conferences.

3.If Xavier can get past West Virginia, they maybe the darkhorses for the Final Four.

4.In the tournament, its all about the guards. You do need some inside play, but if you have a good backcourt, you are great shape. Look at what happened to Connecticut and look who on San Diego really beat them. Look at the run Davidson has been on. Its the backcourt baby.

5.These next two days are the last fun days, the weekend games could be exciting, but they are also times when the clock strikes midnight for Cinderella.

Hey, Mr Love, Shut the Fuck Up

You are the playing for the number one seed in the West Region, playing your Second Round game in Anaheim and with 5 minutes left, you and your pussy boy Bruins are still trailing the Texas A & M Aggies who no longer have Acie Law. If you need help from the partisan crowd in what is supposed to be a neutral site, as evidenced by you waving your arms around like a wounded sparrow, perhaps everyone including this blogging duck was right when they said your teammated were OVERRATED!

What the Hell could Trent Johnson have said

This is the NCAA Tournament, not the Lukoil Classic in Tampa. If you are going to eject a coach, even if it is the coach of a team that I did not choose in any of my brackets, that coach better have called your mother a Marquette loving whore.

Now Trent Johnson, the coach of Stanford is not exactly the coolest head in basketball, but this is not a freaking sock hop.

Missouri is still a surreal mess

with about 2500 votes seperating the Dems and only about 6000 votes seperating Huckster and McCain. As California will press on deep into the night, as the cities come in slowly, each campaign holding there cards until they can not anymore. This is too much freaking fun. Wait, Hillary takes Cali at 12:15. Great, more from Terry Ratface McAulliffe, the man who fucked up the Democratic Party.

Alaska & Missouri is still out there, though Alaska still has 45 minutes, which I will not be awake for. Check CNN in the morning.

Thanks for reading

Hillary Takes Arizona

Which makes me a bit nervous, since there are alot of midwesterners in Arizona, especially if it comes down to Ohio. Alot of Ohioans in Arizona and that might be the state it all comes down too.

Gophers Go Obama

Proving that Obama represents the liberal wing of the Democratic party. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing is hard to decide.

Hillary's speech is not bad, not exactly inspiring but not bad.

Romney wins North Dakota, huge turnout for the white supremecists (Ok, thats a joke). Good Kings Ron Paul win come in third.

Cali too close to call for both parties and Arizona still to close in the Dems.

S.B. Hotties Day 2

Quickly, the results from day 1. It seems that the Mysterious Tampa Girl won easily over Briana of New England. Though I tend to agree, the Buccaneer Cheerleader had one rocking body.

Now, on to day two, again it is a New England girl, against a cheerleader from the NFC, this time its one of the team captains from the San Francisco Gold Rush. Where do they get these names anyways?

Any who, onto the hotness...

Thursday Thirteen #59-The Duncan Hunter One

Thirteen Things about Duncan Hunter

As a way to help the political electorate out there, I figure I would do some Thursday Thirteens here and there about the folks running for the highest office in the land. Of course, it was too late for some people (Sorry Tommy Thompson, Joe Biden & Chris Dodd) but the show must go on.

Before I run out of time and he quits the race, lets get 13 things about Duncan Hunter.

1.Duncan Hunter is a Republican member of the US House of Representatives, representing Eastern & Northern parts of San Diego.

2.He was born May 31, 1948 in Riverside, California

3.He served in the US Army in Vietnam and made it to the highest rank of 1st Lieutenant and was awarded a bronze star

4.One of Hunter's sons also served in the Army, making it to 1st Lieutenant as well after serving in Iraq in 2003 & 2004

5.Hunter served in the House of Reps from 1980 up until this year, when he will not seek re-election to run for President instead. His son, Duncan D, the war hero, will try and replace him in 2008.

6.As of summer 2007, Hunter has missed 31% of the votes in this session of Congress.

7.Hunter is the ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee, which is currently chaired by Ike Skelton, Democrat of Missouri.

8.Hunter sponsored HR 552, the Right to Life act, which would have protected born and pre born persons. Personhood would have been defined at beginning at conception. Now someone tell me what personhood is exactly. HR 552 never made it to the floor for debate.

9.He also sponsored legislation for a Security fence in Southern California and also tried to make distribution of materials deemed pornographic by parents illegal.

10.Shockingly, Hunter considers himself a True Conservative.

11.Hunter has consistenly gotten less than 3% in National Republican polls, though he has won the Maricopa County Straw Poll and the Spartanburg, South Carolina Straw poll.

12.This seals the deal for me in the other direction, Ann Coulter has endorsed Hunter for President

13.Hunter has finished in 7th place in both the Iowa Caucus and the New Hampshire Primaries. But he will always have Maricopa County, Arizona.

Feeley Storm Coming

With the improbable way the Eagles played last night, even though they lost to the Patriots, there is a slow building groundswell to play AJ Feeley at QB the rest of the way in place of superstar, Donovan McNabb. As for me, I am all for it!

Not only does AJ seem to make his decisions quicker and actually try to get rid of the ball if he is under pressure, rather then get sacked, but he also has that certain IT factor to him. McNabb is not a leader, a loss like that last night would have sloughed off his shoulders as the breaks of playing football. Feeley still sounds down, almost 24 hours later, sounding like someone stole his puppy. The fans of Philadelphia want someone who lives and dies the games just like we do, and McNabb, with his carefully calculated image and sullen attitude is not that kind of guy.

So I hope Coach Reid gets off his fat ass and makes a decision that makes sense, playing AJ Feeley next week against Seattle.

Live Blogging the Ducks 2

It should now be Jonathan Stewart all night long, yet they decide to let Leaf throw, big freaking mistake.

Things should stay close if the Wildcats have to actually play offense, Tuitama will make a mistake, he just has to, its in his makeup.

Late hit on the AZ QB Tuitama. Thats it the Refs are fucking homers.

I am already looking forward to Hawaii vs Nevada tomorrow night. Its an actual test for the Rainbow Warriors

You are losing 17 to 11 with your offensive star out. You don't freaking go for an interception. I think the Ducks maybe fucked, I hope you all enjoy LSU kicking the crap out of Kansas/Oklahoma.

Brady Leaf is a dog

Its 31 to 11 now, what a fucking joke, I looked forward all day to this? to this? I now need to root for chaos, because Brady will not bring them back.

Live Blogging the Ducks

Early on, Dennis Dixon is the Heisman Trophy front runner. He runs the offense fully and all you Tebow people can promptly kiss my feathered ass.

A two point conversion makes me a tad nervous, just because I think OU maybe playing nervous.

A freaking INT that is not Dixons fault. The Oregon receivers, beyond Williams just are not that tough.

Crap, its 9:20 and I think Dixon may have blown his ACL.

Double Fuck, I think its going to be Brady Leafs night, which would be great if Brady could throw the ball like Ryan Leaf in college.

9:47 and Brady Leaf decides to throw the ball like his older brother in San Diego, TD for Arizona. Its amazing since the Wildcats do not have an offense to speak of, yet they lead 17 to 11. I think we may be fucked.

On Campus, October 6

Ok, this last week is going to be a bit of a drunken haze, because there was this party and then there is alcohol and well, cake and more alcohol, etc. I did get a chance to see a few games.

The Red River Rivalry was this weekend. I owe Oklahoma an apology, the Sooners are no longer the most overrated football team around. They can tackle and run and do other intangible type things that any Division 1 football team can do. They are still one of the top 5 overrated teams in the country, but a win over Texas takes them down a peg or two. I still despise there coach, but I am sure he does not even have an idea of who I am.

The Battle of the Sunflower was this past weekend as well. They really need to come up with a better nickname for the Kansas/Kansas State rivalry. Two questions, how is the Kansas Coach not a walking heart attack? He is huge, and makes Ralph Friedgen look small. Also, Kansas itself may be the team to beat in the Big 12, there quarterback can throw, there defense is pretty solid and the coach (who I just called fat) takes chances, which helps you to win some games year to year.

The long national nightmare, the losing streak of Notre Dame, is finally over, as the Fighting Irish finally got a win, upsetting UCLA. I am not sure the Bruins coach is really that good, but I was not one of those folks that thought ND would go 0-8. Cross your fingers against the Trojans.

Oh, speaking of the Trojans, HA HA HA, they lost! A team that still can not tackle, has a quarterback who is a matinee idol as opposed to a real QB and they almost have too many running backs. I will admit I thought I was in a drunken stupor when I read ESPNews and it said that Stanford had won. Not that anyone could really find the game on Versus, but I admit I did a little jig.

Finally, LSU continued to roll, dropping the Florida Gators with a second half comeback. Coach Les Myles is either crazy, or a genius, or maybe a bit of both, since he went on 4th down 4 times in the second half and was right all 4 times, to help his Bayou Bengals complete an amazing comeback.

No Ducks this weekend, which is probably good, since I would have missed most of it.
