Back from the Abyss

Well, I have great reasons why I have not posted in a while, and if ya dont think so, then well, i like making excuses.

1. The beloved super Kittie is super no longer. She leapt off a 3 foot high table about 3 weeks ago and snapped her back leg. The only way to fix it was to amputate it, so 2000 dollars and plenty of worries later, we now have decided to change her name to Cassidy (as in Hopalong). No worries now folks, she is doing just fine now, but it was a stressful two weeks.

2. Just after Kittie was all set to get released from her home caging, the author pulled a muscle in my back. Pain shot through me along the lines of a spike being driven into my lower back. In fact I almost passed out!!! Lord that was the worst feeling I have ever felt. So I was laid up for a little over a week and high on codeine for the first few days of that. So while i ramble on like a Republican Pundit sometimes, I doubt anyone would want to read a Blujackit on acid post.

So are those excuses good enough for ya?? If not I might be able to dig something else up.

Weekend Musings

Welllll, its been a while ain't it.

Hmmm, life is still rolling along the same right now, but I have had a few things pop into my head.

Going to see Sarah McLachlan tonight in Atlantic City. I think shes playing at the Taj. I am really looking forward to it, though the trip back to Philly will not be that much fun, just cuz its late. I should probably plug some information into Mapquest, just so I figure out how to get there since I only know it from Central Jersey.

I have become addicted to Pogo. Those sick and twisted people that invented this website, its sheer brillance. I mean they attach little rewards to these games, like little carrots. They dangle in front of you and you just have to get them! Scary really. So, dear readers, please dont get addicted. And if ya do, avoid the game Backwater Bayou, since it is numbingly boring.

I was looking at the so called Ab-Lounge today and had a revelation. It might be still on the market because well, it looks like it could be some sort of sexual device. Just watch the commercial carefully next time, look at it closely and see where your imagination could take you.

The Runaway

Well, first off, yes I am glad that the woman in Georgia was found safe and sound and it has at least a happy ending for her family at least. Now, I was neutral on the fact of whether she should be charged with a crime, filing a false police report or some sort of conspiracy techinically. Ok thats first question, what the hell can they even charge her with besides being an idiot?
Anyway, I say I was on the fence, until we learned that she bought the bus ticket one week before she actually disappeared. That makes her little adventure a premeditated act, which means I have alot less sympathy for her. Same thing, you want to tell me that none of the hotels that she stayed in on her little foray into Vegas and Alberquerque did not have CNN?? We have been spending days on end on this story and she waits until the last day to let her fiance off the hook?
I know FuW said that I would be dead way before having any chance of her taking me back if I pulled a stunt like that. Thats why I can not believe the jilted fiance in this whole things is staying so calm and cool about it. I know how I would feel, Johnnie Walker and I would become close friends for a weekend or so.

My luck naturally

So, for 2 days in a row now, I have been getting up nice and early to await a repairman to come and fix my toilet. Hmm, been up since 7:46, and hey its 9:45, guess what, no repair man! And this is day two without a toilet in the main bathroom. The jokers have one hour and then I will be making an angry phone call. Ok who am i kidding, they have an hour before I make a pleasant phone call, since it usually takes alot more for me to get angry. Can someone say nap though?

Force with Force Bill

Ok Ok, 1st off, i know its Florida, and it a well known fact that the people down in Florida are just generally crazy. I mean not Texas crazy, but not very normal either. But does anyone esle think that this bill sounds like a recipe for disaster besides myself. Basically, the bill says that if you feel a threat of bodily harm, you are free to use force, up to deadly force to stop the other person.

Now everyone read very carefully, who oh who was backing the bill??

TALLAHASSEE -- With a lobbyist for the National Rifle Association at his side, Gov. Jeb Bush signed a bill today intended to make it clear that people have a right to defend themselves on the street, meeting "force with force" without fear of being prosecuted.

The measure, the NRA's top priority, which passed the Legislature overwhelmingly earlier this year, says that people who are under attack don't have to retreat before responding.

People already have that right in their home. The bill (SB 436), which takes effect Oct. 1, extends the right to public spaces, including on the street or in a place of business.

Case law and statutes dealing with the issue vary from state to state, but supporters said the measure brings Florida in line with a number of other states.

"To have to retreat ... defies common sense," Bush said.

Ok, anyone else think this is just plain nuts!!!!

Long Week

Well, its been a little while since I have posted, but I think have a good excuse for it.

FuW had an operation on her mouth and her jaw and that had me in a worried tissy. Everything went according to plan, but I have had to strap on my nurse helmet for the last week or so, fun fun fun. She has been a good patient, but the steroids she takes to help with her healing do make her darned grumpy. But overall things are looking up and I believer she will be back to work tomorrow. Lets just say we have eaten alot of pasta and rice this week.

Now for some reviews. Last weekend, not the one that just passed we saw the movieSahara (2005). While not exactly Oscar award material, it was a good movie overall, a combo Indiana Jones, James Bond and a political intrigue filled movie. Overall, a thumbs up.

While waiting around in the hospital, and then in the next few days after, I finished the book Something Borrowed. I think that Steph does a good job of baring down the good and bad points of the book, but if you are looking for some easy reading, I'd select this one. Steph's Book Reviews - Something Borrowed

Wisconsin Considers Legalizing Cat Hunting


MADISON, Wis. (April 12) - Feline lovers holding pictures of cats, clutching stuffed animals and wearing whiskers faced-off against hundreds of hunters at meetings around Wisconsin to voice their opinion on whether to legalize cat hunting.

Residents in 72 counties were asked whether free-roaming cats - including any domestic cat that isn't under the owner's direct control or any cat without a collar - should be listed as an unprotected species. If listed as so, the cats could be hunted.

The proposal was one of several dozen included in a spring vote on hunting and fishing issues held by the Wisconsin Conservation Congress. The results, only advisory, get forwarded to the state Natural Resources Board.

Statewide results were expected Tuesday.

La Crosse firefighter Mark Smith, 48, helped spearhead the cat-hunting proposal. He wants Wisconsin to declare free-roaming wild cats an unprotected species, just like skunks or gophers. Anyone with a small-game license could shoot the cats at will.

At least two other upper Midwestern states, South Dakota and Minnesota, allow wild cats to be shot - and have for decades. Minnesota defines a wild, or feral, cat as one with no collar that does not show friendly behavior, said Kevin Kyle with that state's Department of Natural Resources.

Every year in Wisconsin alone, an estimated 2 million wild cats kill 47 million to 139 million songbirds, according to state officials. Despite the astounding numbers, Smith's plan has been met with fierce opposition from cat lovers.

Critics of Smith's idea organized Wisconsin Cat-Action Team and developed a Web site - dontshootthecat.com. Some argue it is better to trap wild cats, spay or neuter them, before releasing them.

In Madison, about 1,200 people attended the Monday evening meeting at the Alliant Center - more than the 250 or so in a typical year, but less than the 3,000 or so who took part in a debate in 2000 over whether to allow hunters to shoot mourning doves.

One of the attendees was Katy Francis, who wore cat ears, whiskers, a cat nose and a sign that read, ''Too Cute to Kill.'' For Francis, ''The cat hunting thing brought me out because it was very extreme.''

MishMash of thoughts

Hey everybody, been a little while, hasn't it?

Anyways, have had some thoughts running thru my head, so this post will be a little crazy

1.How gosh darn popular is the restaurant Carraba's? FuW and I tried to go there on Saturday night at 9PM and there was still an hour wait! At 9 pm on a Saturday? How normal is that?? Its not like its a 5 star restaurant for pete's sake.

2.Watched the Masters the other day, it was quite exciting, though I was rooting for Chris DiMarco and not Tiger Woods. I was kind of annoyed at the beginning of the coverage of the Masters, because they made it look like the Tiger Woods Shootout, all Tiger all the time. It was just too bad that Chris could not catch any breaks at all, but that is why Tiger is Tiger.

3.Just finished the Book, Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K Hamilton. Would definetly give the book 3 stars, read it in under a week. A book that is combination between Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Kay Scarpetta novels, so if you like one of these characters, I would recommend Anita Blake!

4. An old thought, but Philadelphia Radio took another hit with the change of format to 100.3, which used to be called Y100 for another rap station. That makes I believe 5 here in the Philadelphia area. I dont mean to be crass, and I listen to rap and R&B music, but there are more then just black people living in Philadelphia!!!

So, did you ever have a friend, that cool friend who was like in the in crowd, really good at everything you wanted to do and just someone that everyone seemed to love? Damn Verizon lost my last post, so lets just say I hated DirecTV last night for costing me watching one of the sweet 16 games and that I will now add Verizon to my I hate you list!!!

Schiavo Mess

And that is what it has totally become. Here in Philly, it has been a story that has been going on for a long long time, but it is now really exploding all over the place. My personal opinion is unimportant, though if I do end up brain dead, I would not want to be kept alive beyond a month. It is not living. A coma is different, you can come back from that, but being brain dead, there is no come back. And the news here is very slanted against the husband, painting there news stories like Terry was some hostage that needed saving somewhere. And the goverment's involvement?? Totally wrong and totally a political manuever by the Republicans to attach itself to a "values and morals" type issue.
It is just a mess, and it makes you sad for all involved in the end.

Catamounts in OT

This is why I just absolutely adore March Madness. I might be a bit sentimental and silly, but I still got chills from watching this little team win. Vermont shocks 'Cuse in OT I know that it is part of my bias, I am not a fan of the Orangemen, I still think there coach is a whiner. And I did predict the win, but ya know, even if I didn't I would have been rooting for UVM.

Ladies and Gentleman, please welcom Mr. PITTSNOGGLE. I mean it could have been worse, what if the T's were S's? And really, should I be one to talk really? I mean I am going to keep my last name to myself thank you very much, but suffice it to say it gets mispronounced and misspelled often. Hmm, and look what I did, name is spelled Pittsnogle. I had the darned thing right in front of me and still botched it.

Philadelphia crashing

seems to me that things on the crime wave level in Philadelphia are really getting away. It seems that there have been 75 murders in Philadelphia since the beginning of the year and 10 in the last week. Its getting scary enough that FuW is telling me to keep the doors locked during the day. Now granted, we are not exactly in the a high crime area, but I also think that the commissioners plan of telling people to keep there eyes and ears opened and report problems to the police is not the best plan either. You would think that hmm maybe they should put more police on the streets. But Mayor Street has done and excellent job of entirely destroying all of the good work that Ed Rendell as mayor. The mayor says budget cuts, though I am sure the budget would be a little bit better if they did not have to spend some money on defending the administration for wire taps and city corruption. I mean I could be wrong, but that does not sound like the best plan. But also I am kind of rambling a bit.

Interesting Thought

The FuW and I were having an interesting discussion earlier tonight, so I figured I would share it here. As some may know, I am a very big fan of West Wing, who has Jimmy Smits running for the Democratic nomination. This lead to a discussion on whether a white woman, a african american male or a latino man would be elected president of the United States. I figured that a latino would have the best shot of winning because of the large spanish speaking population in CA. Fl. and TX. FuW felt that a white woman would have the best chance, because no one would ever elect a minority candidate. I mean, there are also factors, like party affiliations, and as usual issues, as well as home state. FuW had a good point though, that the whole thing would be thrown off completely by the entrance of a Colin Powell type candidate, because tons of people love him.

As a staunch democrat, I think I would vote for a Dem. unless they were running someone like a white supremacist or something. But thats because I am sick of losing. But I also think a latino would have the best shot because he would be able to get the biggest treats in the electoral college. Any thoughts?
