The weather may cause a delay that could last for ... days.

It's moot now, but they changed the rules. An "official" game doesn't mean anything other than they will take up where they left off. Whenever they start again. There seemed to be some confusion that if TB had not scored in the top of the 6th, the Series might have been over, but that's not how they're doing it.

My question: will Philadelphia use this delay to convince themselves it's a sign, and now they're going to lose?

I want the Phillies to win, but not by winning a weather-shortened game. Play ball!

hyperion: They didn't so much change the rules as they made them up.
Part of Upton's swimming steal of second and his subsequent mad dash to the submerged plate were because the Rays players thought they would lose the game if they didn't score before the ongoing Monsoon engulfed the ballpark.

valtool: What is better - winning a rain-shortened game or waiting two days to play three innings?

Given those choices Ant, I have to go with waiting the two days. A lot of people really turned on baseball after all the strikes over the past 30 years, but I still believe in the game.

It would be the equivalent of an asterisk in the record books if the World Series was decided over a rain-shortened game.

They didn't make up any rules. It sounded like that with Bud Selig's announcements of how he saved baseball, but with the game tied, it gets delayed, period. Normally, of course, they'd make it up later in the season, but....

Anyway, the three and one half inning game was terrific! Who didn't love it?

Only thing I'm wondering....did the fans have to pay again to get back in, or could they use their ticket stub?
