Grey City

Well, the city has this pall cast over it over a football game. Now mind you, this is Philadelphia and we are talking about the Eagles, but it is still something that I, as an outsider, really need to get used too. I am rooting for the Eagles, do not get me wrong, but I am beginning to grow sick and tired of the way the city seems to cover for Donovan McNabb. He seems like he can never do anything wrong, yet he often does. I have been saying for a long time that the secondary of the Eagles is suspect at best. Lito is overrated, and B-Dawg, while a leader and someone that really lays a hit on someone, can not cover a lick anymore. But, this loss falls at McNabb's feet, as many of the losses do. And if I have to seem him come up with some injury when his team has found a way to lose, in an effort to either look tougher or to have some sort of cover story, I am going to spit nails!

Bowl eligible week one

A new weekly list of the teams that as of right now are eligible for the 56 spots that are available for the big bucks that are the craziness of the holiday bowls. For now I am going to list all the teams that have hit the 6 win spot, though eventually I will pull the BCS teams, since they are guaranteed a spot. Someday I am hoping that there will be a time when there will be too many bowls and not enough teams.

So, I was all set to sit down and start a moaning about the DMV of Pennsylvania, because of past experiences in NJ, you just had to know that it was going to be a disaster. Instead, it was an easy trip. They have this ticker system, so you are able to sit there with your book, laptop, ipod, no lines. Then, even though due to the Patriot act you need to pretty much bring your mother along to prove who you are, the actual forms were painless. Plus, you can be made an organ donor and register to vote all in the same stop. Painless, more of a pain to find my social security card and birth certificate then to actually get the license. Three ***'s

Since the wheels are coming off his presidency. And typical of this administration, lets call our enemies or critics un american for disagreeing with whatever the President says. If all of this does not smack of McCarthyism to you, please do some history research.

Though honestly I think it could be a major mistake, going into Syria. Well, at one point it probably was not a mistake, it would have worked out alot better if we put the Syrians on real notice after 9/11. Now to go into Syria, whether they truly assasinated the president of Lebanon or not, will just look like the angry Americans going into another muslim country. Plus the Syrians are nothing if not in with the terrorists of the world. Not a good enemy to get with, especially if you are on your own, which the United States surely would be. I believe I have found a new god, and they are named Larry, Adam, Edge and Bono.

Saw the boys for the first time ever last night at the Wachovia Center in good ole Philadelphia. It was a near perfect concert. They played everysong I wanted to hear except for Bad, but you cant have anything. The one drawback was the drunk twentysomethings dancing around right in front of us, especially during songs that really arent jump around like an idiot songs. But, that also goes to show that my friends and I are just getting a bit old, because we were 20somethings once too.

Really Bad videos episode one-Big Country-"In a Big Country"

Ok first let us forget about the lack of imagination in naming of this song. And yes, it does have a good sound to it song wise. I mean how could anyone not like a song that had the guitars sound of like they were bagpipes. The video however is still AWFUL.

Let us recollect, these fellows are supposed to be spies, chasing a mysterious package that has the bands ensignia upon it. Now, they are horrible spies, since they are easily followed by that dreadlocked chick in the body glove suit. And, what spy in there right mind scoots around the country side upon ATVs and minibikes. Yes I can just picture 007 or Magnum PI cutting a fast getaway in an ATV. Then the woman beats the 4 band members/spies up. Sean Connery had to be embarassed. Thennnnn, when they go scuba diving, it looks like a few of them could barely even swim, it took them longer to get into the scuba gear, and we cut to a shot of them swimming on top of the water, heck I think the drummer was doing the doggy paddle for petes sake.

In conclusion, great song, still one of my faves and a terrible horrible horrendous video.

Live 8

Well 1st off no we did not go, standing around with 750,000 to 1 million of my closest friends without any acess to a bathroom was not my idea of a good time. I do know though that if I did not have AOL I would have een darned ticked off. MTV/VH1 did a totally terrible job of covering the concert, cutting up and not even showing to many full performances. Now how is that going to be able to help people learn anything. From the stuff that I did see Kanye West had one of the better performances. Though he is probably going to be the next P. Diddy, i sure hope not.

3.Pink Floyd still sounds as good as they did before they had whatever there issues were
4.London had the best set of performers. Any show that opens with U2 and Paul McCartney, features a performance of Bittersweet Symphony with the Singer from the Verve and Coldplay (which can be found for download with some digging hint, hint) and has a Pink Floyd reunion can overshadow anything that any other venue could put together.
5.those politicians are quite smart, the G8 summit is happening over this weekend, or at least started over this weekend, when Americans would have noooo clue what was going on.
6. They had better sell more versions of songs or a DVD of the performances!!

Back from the Abyss

Well, I have great reasons why I have not posted in a while, and if ya dont think so, then well, i like making excuses.

1. The beloved super Kittie is super no longer. She leapt off a 3 foot high table about 3 weeks ago and snapped her back leg. The only way to fix it was to amputate it, so 2000 dollars and plenty of worries later, we now have decided to change her name to Cassidy (as in Hopalong). No worries now folks, she is doing just fine now, but it was a stressful two weeks.

2. Just after Kittie was all set to get released from her home caging, the author pulled a muscle in my back. Pain shot through me along the lines of a spike being driven into my lower back. In fact I almost passed out!!! Lord that was the worst feeling I have ever felt. So I was laid up for a little over a week and high on codeine for the first few days of that. So while i ramble on like a Republican Pundit sometimes, I doubt anyone would want to read a Blujackit on acid post.

So are those excuses good enough for ya?? If not I might be able to dig something else up.

Weekend Musings

Welllll, its been a while ain't it.

Hmmm, life is still rolling along the same right now, but I have had a few things pop into my head.

Going to see Sarah McLachlan tonight in Atlantic City. I think shes playing at the Taj. I am really looking forward to it, though the trip back to Philly will not be that much fun, just cuz its late. I should probably plug some information into Mapquest, just so I figure out how to get there since I only know it from Central Jersey.

I have become addicted to Pogo. Those sick and twisted people that invented this website, its sheer brillance. I mean they attach little rewards to these games, like little carrots. They dangle in front of you and you just have to get them! Scary really. So, dear readers, please dont get addicted. And if ya do, avoid the game Backwater Bayou, since it is numbingly boring.

I was looking at the so called Ab-Lounge today and had a revelation. It might be still on the market because well, it looks like it could be some sort of sexual device. Just watch the commercial carefully next time, look at it closely and see where your imagination could take you.

The Runaway

Well, first off, yes I am glad that the woman in Georgia was found safe and sound and it has at least a happy ending for her family at least. Now, I was neutral on the fact of whether she should be charged with a crime, filing a false police report or some sort of conspiracy techinically. Ok thats first question, what the hell can they even charge her with besides being an idiot?
Anyway, I say I was on the fence, until we learned that she bought the bus ticket one week before she actually disappeared. That makes her little adventure a premeditated act, which means I have alot less sympathy for her. Same thing, you want to tell me that none of the hotels that she stayed in on her little foray into Vegas and Alberquerque did not have CNN?? We have been spending days on end on this story and she waits until the last day to let her fiance off the hook?
I know FuW said that I would be dead way before having any chance of her taking me back if I pulled a stunt like that. Thats why I can not believe the jilted fiance in this whole things is staying so calm and cool about it. I know how I would feel, Johnnie Walker and I would become close friends for a weekend or so.

My luck naturally

So, for 2 days in a row now, I have been getting up nice and early to await a repairman to come and fix my toilet. Hmm, been up since 7:46, and hey its 9:45, guess what, no repair man! And this is day two without a toilet in the main bathroom. The jokers have one hour and then I will be making an angry phone call. Ok who am i kidding, they have an hour before I make a pleasant phone call, since it usually takes alot more for me to get angry. Can someone say nap though?

Force with Force Bill

Ok Ok, 1st off, i know its Florida, and it a well known fact that the people down in Florida are just generally crazy. I mean not Texas crazy, but not very normal either. But does anyone esle think that this bill sounds like a recipe for disaster besides myself. Basically, the bill says that if you feel a threat of bodily harm, you are free to use force, up to deadly force to stop the other person.

Now everyone read very carefully, who oh who was backing the bill??

TALLAHASSEE -- With a lobbyist for the National Rifle Association at his side, Gov. Jeb Bush signed a bill today intended to make it clear that people have a right to defend themselves on the street, meeting "force with force" without fear of being prosecuted.

The measure, the NRA's top priority, which passed the Legislature overwhelmingly earlier this year, says that people who are under attack don't have to retreat before responding.

People already have that right in their home. The bill (SB 436), which takes effect Oct. 1, extends the right to public spaces, including on the street or in a place of business.

Case law and statutes dealing with the issue vary from state to state, but supporters said the measure brings Florida in line with a number of other states.

"To have to retreat ... defies common sense," Bush said.

Ok, anyone else think this is just plain nuts!!!!

Long Week

Well, its been a little while since I have posted, but I think have a good excuse for it.

FuW had an operation on her mouth and her jaw and that had me in a worried tissy. Everything went according to plan, but I have had to strap on my nurse helmet for the last week or so, fun fun fun. She has been a good patient, but the steroids she takes to help with her healing do make her darned grumpy. But overall things are looking up and I believer she will be back to work tomorrow. Lets just say we have eaten alot of pasta and rice this week.

Now for some reviews. Last weekend, not the one that just passed we saw the movieSahara (2005). While not exactly Oscar award material, it was a good movie overall, a combo Indiana Jones, James Bond and a political intrigue filled movie. Overall, a thumbs up.

While waiting around in the hospital, and then in the next few days after, I finished the book Something Borrowed. I think that Steph does a good job of baring down the good and bad points of the book, but if you are looking for some easy reading, I'd select this one. Steph's Book Reviews - Something Borrowed
