Of Mice and Cheney

I was hunkered down yesterday, submitting resumes and also catching up on the TiVo backlog (Gotta catch up on OLTL), so I totally missed out on any of the news from yesterday. Until I talked with Mrs Duck later on, I was unaware that the stock market tanked and that Cheney had been a "target". Well, a target in a grand target sense.

Now, I am not one of Cheney's biggest fans, that is for sure. But he is someones husband, father and grandfather, so my human being side came out and was thankful nothing serious happened to him. Of course, the same can not be said for the soldier and other people milling around outside the air base who did not fair as well. So, here is my question. WHAT WAS HE DOING THERE??

I think of it this way. We have a colony of mice living outside our front door, ok maybe colony is strong. But they live under the front step. They stay away from me and I leave them alone. Now, the mice dont come running into our front door, probably because of the cats, not because they are a afraid of me, since I am more afraid of them.

How does this relate to Big Time? Well, the mice are smarter then him, they know exactly where they should go and should not go. I am the goverment of Afgahnistan and I guess the cats are the suicide bombers. But guess what, still havent seen a mouse. So, if you want to bolster the troops, or yell at some generals, send an email, do some video conferencing!!

On a side note, Mrs Duck is much more intune with all things financial then I am. Her words of wisdom when she heard about the market? "Gee, I wonder what Haliburton is trading at right now."

Ear and Eye Candy

I remember how popular the last entry that included the great Jared Leto was, so why not follow it up with another video post? I say give the people what they want, I know who my readers are. Have patience, 30 Seconds to Mars is in this video, trust me.

Unfortunately, I think we'll see Kyle in victory lane a couple of times this year, too. The little shit.
I read somewhere that it's possible that Rudd would leave the car if they either didn't win or Ricky just gets tired. If they keep running like they did last week, Ricky will probably find the energy to stick around.
Even counting the Bud Moore years, this may be the best chance he's had equipment-wise. I always thought he was a talented driver who never really hooked up with the right team for his style. In his younger days, he ran alot like Smoke ... bump 'em out of the way if they don't want to let you go!
He was my favorite when I started going to races. He ran the Piedmont Chevy then. About as reliable as the airline.

I think Ricky will have a good chance with his equipment if he just stops getting wrecked, since his luck ran out again yesterday. Two weeks though and no Jeff, Jimmie or Kyle in Victory Lane is a good thing. Piedmont Air? How long have you been watching racing???

I had decided to continue it as well - it's my one disciplined post a week - well sorta. The whole naming process is interesting - I have a client who is a land developer and he just started naming lakes and roads in the community after his relatives. Must be nice to have the power.

That's a very cool list. I learned a few things. Never knew the source of Purdue or Austin or very much about Rittenhouse.

Do you think it was easier to be an inventor in the 1700s, when there was so much stuff left to invent?

I think it would have been easier and harder in the 1700's. So many new things to invent, but how many people do you think tried to create dynamite before someone did it successfully??

It was funny, because in the beginning it became obvious that Kyle Chandler is a method actor, because he sure did sound like his character on Friday Night Lights. Was your spoiler right?

My thoughts are Grey's: I cried thru most of the episode. Manily, because I have a Person. And, I would so call her first if and when I have to get rid of a corpse. I even emailed her this morning letting her know how much I love because of this show

I think its amazing because almost all women have a person and that person is not there husband. Probably because that is the body you will be burying Nancy :)

I cry at that damn show every week! I was not surprised they didn't kill her. (How's that for a double negative?) But, I was not expecting them to kill her mom. That was a surprise.
And I have been a fan of Kyle Chandler ever since he was on Homefront in the early 90's. Love him!

I actually did not cry this week. But my wife bawled enough for the both of us. No matter how goofy Meredith seems I think Mrs Duck identifies with her some.

I can't remember the last time we watched a movie that I wanted to see. It's usually The Cheetah Girls or High School Musical around here. *sigh*

This High School Musical seems to be the runaway hit of the century. Which I dont get actually since it was a TV movie on the Disney Channel. But, I also never really got Grease either.

Music & Lyrics-3 quacks

Last night was another movie and burgers night in the Duck home, and the choice was an easy one, Music and Lyrics. Mrs Duck is a huge Hugh Grant fan and I like both Hugh and Drew Barrymore, especially when she lets her goofy out.

Overall, it was a formulamatic romantic comedy, but it was exactly what you like about Romantic comedies. Boy meets girl, falls in love, achieves goal, loses girl and finds her again. The perfect mindless fun.

Plus, the movie also told the truth about pop music, it can make you happy, even though it is usually fluff. And considering I am a musicphile, it hit home with me. While my Ipod is filled with Evanescence, Sarah and Springsteen, there is nothing like a good pop song on a Friday afternoon while driving along the highway. Hence, I also am a closet Justin Timberlake fan.

The only quibble is I wish they were able to get one of those tween pop stars to be the pop star in the movie that Hugh and Drew are writing for. It would have been nice to see one comfortable enough to make fun of themselves, but Haley Bennett, who can obviously sing, did a fine turn.

On a sidenote, I have absolutely no opinion on tonights Oscar's because I haven't seen too many of the movies besides The Queen. I hope Scorscece wins, just so he is no longer the best director in the world that has never won an Oscar before. Beyond that, I could care less who wins.

But, anyway, sometimes life is a series of amazing coincidences. First I was over at my favorite blogging pirate, Lady Jane Scarlett, and she posted this interesting PSA about Itunes and pornographic material.

Then, in one of those amazing happenings that one finds from time to time, I was settled in to watch Channel 6 news, and they talked about this crazy guy in Wisconsin who was holding one of his neighbors at swordpoint over a porn movie's screams.

So, in the long run there are a few things that can be learned by this series of events.
1.Pirates are still alive and well and sharing the electronic booty
2.Porn movies should be watched with headphones if you are living in an apartment
3.Isnt it shocking that a man who saves women with the sword lives with his mother?

Will they or wont they?

Call me silly, but I am quite excited and intrigued about tonights episode of Grey's Anatomy. Truthfully, I am always excited about this show, everyday I try and figure out how long until the new episode will be on.

So tonight is shaping up to be one of those "very special" episodes. I know I audibly gasped last week as soon as I saw Kyle Chandler at the end of the show. I think he is a terrific actor, check out Friday Night Lights sometime, and the fact that they got him to be on a show on a competing network may not have been the best news for Meredith. Plus, I think that maybe why the producers keep giving Isaiah Washington chance after chance. They dont want to shake up the chemistry that much in quick order.

So, while I am leaning towards 80/20 that Meredith will survive, I will not be stunned if she does not make it. I know others watch this show, what are your thoughts? Well duh, by the way, its one of the number one shows on TV.

Since the second question is much easier to answer, here are thirteen places named after someone else. 1.walter reed hospital-Major Walter Reed, M.D., (September 13, 1851 - November 23, 1902) was a U.S. Army physician who in 1900 led the team which confirmed the theory (first set forth in 1881 by Cuban doctor/scientist Carlos Finlay) that yellow fever is transmitted by mosquitoes, rather than by direct contact. This insight opened entire new fields of epidemiology and biomedicine and most immediately allowed the resumption and completion of work on the Panama Canal (1904-14) by the United States. 2.Rittenhouse square-David Rittenhouse (April 8, 1732 – June 26, 1796) was a renowned American astronomer, inventor, mathematician, surveyor, scientific instrument craftsman, and public official. I know exactly the feeling you're talking about and was deluded enough to believe that once ya grew up it would all be better. Ummm - nope. I usually get that Rock-in-the-Pit-of-Stomach when I'm overwhelmed, or worried that life's about to kick my ass. It has happened on rare occassion that i'll have a flashback - maybe that's what you were experiencing?

I am hoping its a flashback, Sundays would really suck if this happened all the time.

Yep, pretty much. One of those guys who is consistent, but not fortunate enough sometimes - like last Sunday. He wiggled just enough coming out of turn 4 that "Smiley" was able to nudge him.
Like the old days when they used to race to the flag on cautions. They've since changed that rule. Funny how they didn't envoke it then.
I think they were right to do it, since the crash was behind the leaders, but it stuck me as a bit inconsistent.
Nice that Rudd is driving again, though. He'll win a couple if he races the whole schedule.

The cautions drive me nuts because I cant figure them out totally. Though as I said on some one elses blog, as long as that little Chit Kyle Busch didnt win I was happy enough. Can you tell I hate all of Hendrick Motorsports??

Rudd is running Yates, he will be up at the front almost every week, it will be up to him and his crew to win.

The reason I was pulling for 01

I have absolutely no problem with Smiley winning the Daytona 500. He is one of the drivers that I like and am beginning to follow as some of the older drivers I used to love are starting to semi-retire.

One of those drivers that I still really pull for though is Mark Martin. He has moved on now from the number 6 AAA car that he had been running for over 20 years, to the 01 Army car. I was disappointed when he finally lost Americas race by .002 of a second. And now, I realize why. Reading through Sunday Money, one of the many books stacked on my nightstand, I came across this description of Martin that struck me as spot on.

Sunday Money, page 213

"His Arkansas twang cutting hard through his Viagra commercials, Martin is mighty popular with the fans; he's a 32 time winner (more now) and consistent front runner, who has never won the season championship. Along Comes Milton

There are days I stare at this screen, with really nothing to write. That white sheet of paper and the blinking cursor just seems to remind me that I am a tad dull.

But, then there is the appearance of Milton Street. Mayor John Street's brother is nuts. He is like that crazy uncle in your family, who will regale you with stories of his battles against the Nazi's in World War II, even though he was born in 1962. We all know these people, and we usually just listen, smile and avoid dealing with that Uncle until the next time we have to see him.

Milton, is Philadelphia's crazy uncle. He claims to be running for Mayor, even though there are still questions about whether he is even a resident of Philadelphia. And then there is the small legal trouble following him, called a federal indictment for taking bribes. And yesterday, Milton was arrested in Moorestown, NJ for unpaid parking tickets. Being the brillant politician he is, Milton took the arrest as a chance to reinforce the fact that he will be running for mayor and that he is the only one who knows how to empower the public because he knows how it feels to be persecuted by the law. Brillant!!

Please dont go away Milton, you are blogging gold. Just please dont win for Mayor either, Philadelphia would never survive.

Way Way way way way way way back, I tagged the brilliant Wordnerd for a meme of 6 odd things about her. I cant even remember when I did the post, but she did finally do it and it was eye opening as always. Now, as revenge, she informed me that I needed to the quiz again, except with a twist. So, as per the Crazy Cajuns request...

6 things that you dont know about me that makes me a conservative.

1.I was thrilled when Reagan beat Carter. Ok, I was 7 years old, I was a Cowboys fan and a Yankee fan. So I was a front running kid. When you are a kid, you want to root for a winner.

2. I went to an all boys Catholic High School in one of the richest counties in New Jersey. If those 4 years did not rub off on me and stick with me a little bit, then I must have totally lost those 4 years of my life.

3. I believe in the death penalty, especially when it comes to someone who kills a police officer. Now adays, science is so good that its going to be a lot harder to execute someone who is innocent. I also have alot of family and friends who are in law enforcement, so this is a no brainer.

4. I was in banking for alot of my career (hated it by the way) but my job was alot easier when the market was doing well. The market usually does well when the Republicans were in charge in some capacity, either in Congress or the Oval Office. I liked it when my job was a wee bit easier.

I dont think it was that bad for someone that came from a family of teachers, auto workers, and other union type jobs. Plus, I went to a liberal college and think Bill Clinton was the best President ever. Thats gotta show improvement.

Do you remember when you were in middle or high school and on Sunday night, you would get that horrible feeling in your stomach because you didnt study enough, or didnt complete the project you were supposed to finish. Or, the big bully Nelson was going to pop you in the nose? Good.

Now answer me this, why would a 35 year old man get the same feeling on a Sunday night when they have no tests, projects or bullies?

My Snotty Valentine

2007 was our first Valentine's Day as husband and wife and it certainly was one of those memorable ones, if not for the best of reasons. I had started feeling better, but had not been 100%. The fever had faded. Mrs Duck, however, was in rare form. It seemed like everything that she had touched was screwed up in some way, from the coffee pot to the laptop. So, needless to say, a slight "discussion" ensued. We had probably just been spending a wee bit too much time together, with the fevers and all. We were hot blooded. When Tin Man came to take the wife to the doctors down in the city, in an ice storm no less, my parting words beyond I love you were get her a sedative.

The break was good since I got my second wind. The phlegm was still wreaking havoc with the wife, so I just whipped up some Rachael Ray Crab Cakes and some rice that tasted like crap. No more Uncle Bens! Oh, and I made Raspberry Cream Cookies, which were the perfect mix of berry and chocolate. All this activity though had me passing out. No worries faithful readers, I survived, as you can see.

So, Saturday it was the Valentine's Day dinner out down in South Philly at a nice little Italian Restaurant. It was a Mrs Duck Family affair, which was okay actually, since I really do like my in-laws. We did meet Sarge's new girlfriend, though I do not think I will be giving her a nickname yet, since the consesus seems to be that she will not be around that long. Of course, Sarge is Sarge, so I bet they could be married someday with our luck.

Thats 2007 for you. Its not like I am going to have that rough a time of topping it next year. It could have been worse as well, we could have been stranded on I-78 near Allentown for about 42 hours like some other pathetic souls. So things are looking up.

With Pitchers and Catchers

It is one of those rites of spring, or at least one of those subtle hints that Spring time is right around the corner. There are actually a few signs that pop up that let you know Spring is on its way. Theres the Philadelphia Flower Show, a March Madness Bracket, your first sighting of a blue bird of happiness and finally for many people there is the start of Spring Training with Pitchers and Catchers reporting for camp.

And with Pitchers and Catchers, there is also the crazy ways that these fine tuned athletes find to get hurt. Falling out of bed from a nightmare, falling down the stairs with your luggage, and this years earliest entry, submitted by the snake bitten Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood. Of course, since they train in Peoria, Arizona, you have to wonder how many margaritas Mr Wood was sipping to find himself unable to get himself out of the hot tub. At least he didn't end up looking like the California Raisin.

Thursday Thirteen #22-The OCD One




Thirteen Neurotic Things about Sparky's start to his day I do alot of my great thinking while in the shower, it seems to be where I come up with alot of my blog ideas, gift ideas, what things I need from the store, and the meaning of life that day. So, it should not be any surprise that if I do not do things in the shower in an exact order, I lose track of what I have and havent done. I cant tell you how many times I have washed my hair more then once because my mind wandered. So, here's the list from shower to jockeys. 1.Test the water and hop in. Do you know how much I hate to feel the cold water that has been trapped in a showerhead before it comes out hot. Rude awakening 2.Lather up with a bar of soap. Very important to be sure to get the pits here. Personally, I prefer Irish Spring. 3.Shampoo the hair next, I dont mess with the conditioner as a seperate step either, too much time wasted. So a 2 in 1 shampoo works best. 4.Shave. One of the easiest things to double check that I have done, especially when the mind is off on someplace nice. Plus, since I dont do it everyday, its even easier to check. 5.Shower Gel. Yes, men can use Shower Gel and those puffy sponges, and I am damned proud of it. Ok, I use the Old Spice Shower Gel, manly enough? 6.Noxema Face Scrub-Sue Me, I have bad pores and the orange scent is invigorating. 7.Clean out my Ears and be sure to rinse off my face. A very important step, since I have allergies out the wazzoo. Now, I just want to stress that there is always a rinse involved in between each step, I just figured that was self explanatory 8.Dry, though honestly I like the Rod Tidwell idea of drying, air drying is better for the skin. Now what movie is that from? 9.Brush the Teeth. I have found that I have to do this before deodorant, just because for whatever reason if I dont I end up having to do the deodorant under the shirt thing. 10.deodorant-and it has to be those clear gels. the sticks dont work! 11.Mouthwash-with Listerine, you can really feel all those germs dying on contact. 12.Get dressed-yes ladies The Duck has been naked the entire time, mmmm hows that for daydreamin (ok I must still be delusional) 13.Brush the hair-I have a bush on top of my head, so if I brush it before Im dressed its all over gods creation. Deals

So, socked in due to fever and head congestion and all the fun that goes with it, the wife and I were watching Rules of Engagement on CBS. First off, it might have been the fever talking, but the show was not that bad. Plus, no matter what you think, its not all about David Spade, which is a good thing.

But, the episode itself dealt with a "Birthday Deal". In the grand scheme of things, a Birthday Deal is something that guys ask for on there birthdays that they would not think of getting at any other time. You know, Sportscenter all day, beer for breakfast, assorted sexual favors.

Now of course that got the mind working, and with Valentines Day upon us and all I figured it would be a good time to ask the question. Do my faithful readers have "Birthday Deals", Anniversary Deals or Holiday Deals? We dont have that setup here in the house, though if we did, while I wont go into details, there would surely be cheerleader skirts or a catholic school girl outfit. Anyone brave enough to admit there deals out there?

Gobblygook

The illness has attached itself to Chez Duck once again, and the gook is probably what we have been currently coughing up. Mrs Duck got it first and last night I was in bed early because I was coughing up a storm and also the horrible shaky feeling that comes with a fever. Mrs Duck is not the best patient, she whines a bit more then me and also seems to like to repeat herself. Though as soon as she reads this I will probably be a dead man.

The Grammy's were dull. Boring dull. I knew we were in trouble as soon as Stevie Wonder and Tony Bennett beat out U2 and Mary J Blige. Some of the performances were good though. I was struck by the Dixie Chicks and Gnarls Barkley respectively. They both did amazing jobs.

Speaking of the Dixie Chicks, dont we think it might be time for some of you country music fans to get over yourselves?? My family tells me all the time how mad they are to be living in Texas and to be associated with the Shrub. What Toby Keith couldnt put out more albums about how he was going to kick some more ass?

It must be sweeps, because the local news has been going GaGa over a storm that hasnt even really formed yet. Let's be sure to use the Bush Doctrine and scare the crap out of everyone so they watch your sick o'clock schlock fest.

I am a sucker for most of the award shows out there. Heck, I dont think I am too old to be watching the VMA's on MTV, though sometimes during the show, I actually do think I might be old. But, no matter.

Tonight is my favorite award show, the Grammys. I am a musicphobe (is that a word?), well, if its not, I am a music lover to the point of being a music stalker. So, this is a fun night for me. The Oscars can get over my head sometimes. There are alot of movies that I havent seen or heard of. But when it comes to music, even by accident, I have heard a good majority of the songs.

Now, the Grammy's are not exactly cutting edge. Jethro Tull as best Heavy Metal over Metallica?? Steely Dan winning an award in the new millenium? Fresh Prince best rap group? all kind of scary awards. Though they have improved over time, sometimes you still get those old bittys who probably voted for Buchanan in Florida.

But, get there early tonight, the first hour will have Justin Timberlake, The Dixie Chicks and a Police reunion!! Now, I know that you are all sooo darn curious on my picks, so you may still have time to call your bookies.

That was how most of the day went yesterday, at least in the Philadelphia Area when it came to good ole Sparky. Everytime I turned the corner, it felt like I was opening an Acme Box and getting smacked in the head by a sledgehammer.

My first hint that it might have been a bad day was the spool of ribbon that was running from the dining room and out to the front door. The worst part, this ribbon had started out on the dining room table. The furballs were at it again.

And, I got plenty of responses on my resume yesterday. Besides the spam opportunities of course, there were a few jobs that would have paid me less then I made in High School and were jobs that I may not have taken in High School. Not exactly a confidence booster, you know.

So, I was not exactly motivated to join Mrs Duck and a group of her co-workers down in Center City for a happy hour. Alot of the times I get around these folks, I feel like the deadbeat husband, even though I am told over and over again I am not. Then the topping on the cake of a day was the fact that the bar we went too had only one bartender and drinks took a half hour to arrive. Not the best plan to promote a happy hour and then have one bartender is it?

The night did end well with a trip to 5 Guys Burgers in Center City. They are definetly in contention for top burgers this side of the Mississippi. The burgers were fresh and greasy and the french fries really did plead for some malt vinegar, which of course I obliged them with. Not on the level of In N Out burgers, but a nice substitute.

WTF??

Ok, its sad, I feel bad for the womans newborn baby and her husband, and any of the family and friends that she was talking too. But why is this the top story on 6 O' Clock News?

B & B is like Sex in the City for the rest of us, well minus the Sex. 10.An Island Life-Local Girl disappeared for a little while and I for one is really really glad she is back. She's running this great Valentines Day Swap, which I would have done if Mrs Duck didnt put her foot down. Plus, LG is in Hawaii! 11.Lost in the Battle-Twyla seems to be the better looking, female Canadian version of me. We share alot of the same tastes and ideas. Now, wouldnt you love to read a Canadian, better looking version of me? 12.My Sick Mind-Brillant. A great writer, who has no problem pointing out the stupid things people do in the world. Plus he looks like Subway, though I dont think there is any relation. And, how many bloggers do you know who make a Spaulding Gray/Rick Dees reference? 13.Here Comes a Storm-A great layout, great posts, plus she is great with comments. Sounds like the perfect Blog combination. Plus, she uses a absinthe reference, that takes brains. Keep your fingers out of my ears

We all get these emails from time to time, talking about stupid laws that are still on the books in the United States. You know what Im talking about, like the fact that its legal to have moose as a pet in some town in Maine. Ok, I am making that up, but, you know its possible.

But, I am not making this one up. Though luckily, its only a proposal, but come on now. I wear my Ipod to avoid dealing with people, especially the ones that are on the street corners looking to get me to donate to there children's charity, vote for some councilman I cant even vote for, or trying to get me to spare a quarter. So, no, I am not a fan of this law, even though I dont find myself ending up in New York City Ipodded anytime soon. Like the police in one of the biggest cities in the United States doesnt have anything else better to do.

My blogger buddy, Zeus, was giving out letters the other day for a Alphabet meme, since his owner decided to co-opt the meme itself and not take the challenge of listing 10 things that the Human Pet likes about Z. I would have liked to see that. However and luckily for me, Zeus gave me the letter D. And I will take that and run with it. 1. Coincidentally, I actually am going to start off with Ducks. Not only is it my name sake, but I think they are very cute and spend hours just staring at them in zoos or parks. They often have to call the police on me because I am thought of as a stalker. Oh, and the team I live and die with? the Oregon Ducks.

2.Delaware. I know, I know, how could someone think Delaware is cool? Well, I am a proud graduate of the University of Delaware and the good thing about the state is you can see all the top sites in a weekend and cross it off your list.

The In N Out Double Double Burger. There are a few things I miss about my parents moving from Arizona. Swimming in March, T Shirts in December, the views, and the stop after the airport at In N Out Burger. If you have never tried it, find your way to Las Vegas or California sometime and scarf down two for me.

4.Dave's-There's David Letterman, David Gregory of NBC News, Davis Love III, Famous Dave's Ribs and the Dave that broke up my marriage, causing happiness now with Mrs Duck.

5.Drinking, -well yes, everyone needs to drink, water, coffee, soda, juice, something. But I mean one of my favorite things is Drinking, preferably Dirty Martinis with olives.

6.The Dixie Chicks-Besides the fact that they are tough and didnt take any crap from the critics because they expressed an opinion, if you dont get choked up a little listening to the song Traveling Soldier, you may need to get something checked out.

7.Diners-I know, its probably a Jersey thing, but they are the only place I know of that you can ask for French Fries with brown gravy and not get looked at like you have three heads.

8.Elisha Dushku-I know she was in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but she was hot enough for me in Bring it one for me to add her to this list.

9.Dollars- well a whole bunch of them strapped together and given to me to keep.

10.Dancing-Though really, I think I do my best dancing in the privacy of my own home, shaking my booty in the kitchen, rather then in public. Its amazing how, if its your own wedding, how much bad dancing you can get away with.

Ok, first off, I know I am a day late and a dollar short on this post, but really, the game was kind of lame overall. At first, Tony Dungy looked liked the biggest idiot of a coach in the first 30 seconds, the whole world had been saying, do not kick it to Devon Hester! Hey look there goes Devon Hester 92 yards down the sidelines!

But, luckily for Colts fans and Bears haters like me, Rex Grossman played just as well as you would expect for someone who is following in the great long line of University of Florida Quarterbacks like Danny Wuerffel and the Batchelor. Who by the way shares my birthday and my good looks :)

So, Denny Green, though you got fired for blowing this game and continuing the losing ways in Arizona, on this point you were right. I would think ESPN will be calling again.

Colder then a Sno Cone in Alaska

Its one of those cold days that it actually hurts to be a man. There is shrinkage in places that you dont want shrinkage, and it happens really really fast. Its so cold that its a day to consider quitting smoking. Its one of those days that the temperature has snuck up to 20 degrees and you actually notice the change. The trees are frozen! And since last night was Super Bowl Sunday, yippeee, the vomit is frozen too!

Now, I cant find my gloves, did someone snatch them??

And the it I mean of course is a Super Bowl prediction, because everyone seems to have at least a little bit of an inkling.

So, here is the Ducks take on tommorrows national holiday. Peyton and his Wide Receivers are very very good. Much better then the offense of Chicago, especially since I really think the running backs for the Bears and the ones for the Colts are equal.

Rex Grossman sucks. Pardon my french, but he really really does. Can you tell I really dislike him as a player? And he is gonna be tight, not the best thing for an offense that has to be varied. The Bears will never be confused for the Warren Moon led Run N Shoot.

So, the prediction itself. You will have to stay up until at least the 3rd Quarter. It will still be a game at the half. And while I would love to see a score of 31 to 12, for enterntainment purposes only of course, I have had 35 to 17 rattling around my brain for a few days now, and that is the score I am going to predict.

Though, the over/under that I heard that was more interesting was one I heard on Pardon the Interruption. Over or under 2 inappropriate gestures by Prince during his halftime performance. I would take the over on that one by the way.

Sometimes you really can't keep up

There are some days when you see something and you want to blog about it, get your opinions out. And then there are days when there are so many things, you can not possibly write about everything you want to write about. Today was one of those days.

First, there was this. If I had the connections that Andy Reid had, I would not be running drugs. I would be figuring out a way to use my dad to get into coaching.

Oh Oh and then this was reported. Yes folks thats one hundred and seven million dollars a day. With the warm weather in December, which means they were not selling heating oil, what a joke.

Hey then the world said the United States was fat. Um, possibly not eating dessert could be a good idea.

Finally, on a lighter note, Miss USA continued her embarassment. Lets continue ro be sure to blame everyone else for our problems.

Thursday Thirteen #20-The NFL One

Thirteen of the greatest Players Ive Seen I was going to do one on the 13 best Super Bowls, but I have been watching games since 1980 and I dont think I could have found 13 great games. So I went with players, but there gonna be modern ones, since I am only 34. And its gonna be quick since I am running so late. 1. Kellen Winslow-he changed the way Tight Ends are thought of. They are now more like slower receivers because of the way Winslow played the game. 2. Troy Aikman-a quarterback of the dynasty of the 90's. He was able to manage a game and all of there superstars and still win. Even though he was a, ughh, Cowboy. 3. Brett Favre-can make chicken salad out of chicken you know what. As long as there is time left on the clock, Favre is still in a ball game because he can make something happen anytime. 4. LaDanian Tomlinson- Holds the NFL record for touchdowns in one season. A multi Talented running back who can run, catch passes and even throw the ball on a spiral. 5. Tom Brady-Captain Clutch. If I had one game to play, he would be my Quarterback. Up until this year, he just did not lose when the game mattered most. 6.Walter Payton-"Sweetness" The career leading rusher in the NFL. Graceful as a gazelle and enough toughness to match his gracefulness. 7.Peyton Manning- I am not personally one of his biggest fans, but you never watch one of his games and say, good lord what an ugly pass. Finally won a big game this year so he has to make the list. 8. Jerry Rice-if a football was thrown his way, he was going to catch it. And tough as nails, which says alot for a wide receiver. I think he has both the most receptions for a career as well as most TD's for a wide receiver for a career. 9. Emmitt Smith-you dont know how much I hated him as a fan of other teams. Probably because he knew just how to beat your team. Ran for 200 yards against the Giants in the playoffs with a severly seperated shoulder. Tough. 10.Deion Sanders-yes, he couldnt tackle well, and yes he had a big mouth. But no one covered a receiver better. Fastest player I have ever seen and god forbid he was back returning punts against you, a touchdown was almost a guarantee. 11. Joe Montana-The original Captain Clutch. He never lost a Super Bowl in 4 tries. Cool in the pocket and never relief on one receiver to catch a ball. 12. Lawrence Taylor-the fiercest, scariest, toughest Linebacker ever, even when he wasnt doing cocaine. Just as Joe Theismann. Changed the way the NFL thinks of Linebackers. 13.Barry Sanders-The greatest runner I have ever seen. Could magically get out of any situation, out of any pile. A threat to run 80 yards everytime he touched the ball. Did all this in Detroit, who has sucked for as long as I can rememeber. the Greatest, period! Apologies now to Terry Bradshaw, Cliff Branch, Roger Staubach, Fred Blientenkoff, Franco Harris and Lynn Swann. You guys may have made the list except for the fact that by the time I was watching football, you were all kinda on your last legs.
